First off, congratulations on your admits! Fuqua and Simon are phenomenal business schools!

The Masters in Management Studies (MMS) at Fuqua and the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) at Simon are quite different programs in my opinion. The MMS is going to be a MBA-Lite of sorts even despite the MSTeM track. In my opinion, this boils down to what do you want to do early in your career? Do you want to be in a general management position with a company or do you want to do analytic work? If you want general Management, then I would go to Fuqua. If you foresee yourself wanting to be in an analytical role such as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, etc. then I would go to Simon.

These programs really are geared towards different career paths in the early stages of pursuing a career.

I’ll also add, I am bias to Fuqua as I am a 1st year student in the Master of Science in Quantitative Management program. I absolutely LOVE Fuqua, the people, the professors, the classmates, the experience.

I am an international student and have received admits to the following programs -

#Duke Fuqua MMS (with MSTeM Track) ($5,000 scholarship)
#Rochester Simon MSBA ($24,000 scholarship)

Both these programs offer an accelerated path towards their MBA programs which can be completed within a year at a later point in time.

Duke Fuqua MMS program highlights -

# 10 months program (no CPT)
# Optional Management Science and Technology Management Track which makes it STEM-designated

Rochester Simon MSBA highlights -

# 1-year STEM program with an optional internship track for CPT
# 3 tracks - Risk Management, Pricing, and Business Systems

Which program would be the best choice in terms of pay and growth in the short and long term?

Thank you so much for your reply FinanceMan Really appreciate it.

While Simon's MSBA program is undoubtedly a great program and more technical than MMS, the brand name and alumni network of Fuqua certainly outweigh those of Simon, which makes me slightly inclined towards Fuqua. As for the tuition costs, there is not that big of a difference between the two programs - Simon being $10,000 cheaper (after the scholarship). The placement stats are great for both the programs as per the schools' websites - Simon's MSBA with a slightly better median salary.

A little bit about myself- I completed my undergrad majoring in accounting and finance from a top-ranked university in India and have experience in digital marketing. However, I am now looking for a Business Analyst/Consultant role preferably in the management consulting industry after my master's (tech being my backup option). I know that getting into the consulting industry is tough and it becomes even harder if you are an international student, and that's what makes me even more confused between the two programs. Also, since MMS is a more generalized program, I am worried that it might hinder my chances of getting a job afterward.

Since it's a pretty big investment, I would really appreciate it if you could guide me a bit through this confusion.

Thank you!

I like to offer you my take I am an MsBA graduate and the interviewers were particularly intrested in my MsBA degree because its very rigorous while being fully STEM. Simon reputation and alumni network is very strong too. With a bigger scholarship from Simon I would have taken that offer.

Fuqua is hands down the better school to attend for someone wanting to move into the Management Consulting industry, especially if MBB or Deloitte is a target of yours. Although the MMS is a more generalized degree, I feel Fuqua will give your better prospects. Also, by pursuing the MMS at Fuqua, you become eligible to pursue the 1 year MBA at a later date which would set you up for even better opportunities.
