Hi
Dheenavel -- I'm happy to let others (and the reviews) speak for the experience of using the platform, but I did just want to jump in to make sure that it's clear what, exactly,
ApplicantLab provides (and what it doesn't provide!).
For starters, I do not provide guidance for the GMAT Essay (a.k.a. the Analytical Writing Assessment) -- you'd be far better served checking out GMATClub resources on that topic!
My focus is entirely on the non-test aspects of the admissions process. As an expert admissions consultant (Harvard Business School graduate with almost 18 years of experience helping get into MBA programs), I decided to make my advice and process as affordable as possible. The Lab is a step-by-step online product that incorporates years and YEARS of my hard-won insights and provides them for you in a 24/7 format.
The Lab covers everything you need to assemble your strongest application possible -- from setting your strategy, writing your resume, the essays, recommendations, interviews, and even the aftermath (waitlist / how to select schools / how to try to negotiate scholarships).
You can use the Lab in 3 ways:
1) By yourself / with a friend (using the checklists I provide to ask a friend if your materials fit the checklist)
2) With me or someone on my team -- we are available for hire for services to review your materials; I also have a partnership for editing.
3) In conjunction with another admissions consultant, either opting to purchase, say, a 3-hr package with them, OR to get a professional "second opinion" on an expensive comprehensive package.
Many users join the Lab THINKING that they will EVENTUALLY want to hire someone for additional guidance, but then realize that the advice is so comprehensive that they feel that they do not in fact need extra help. Others want a more personal touch, and so hire me / folks on my team for multiple add-on services.
It's sort of a "Swiss Army Knife" that you can use in multiple ways!
That having been said, there are a few things the Lab is NOT:
1) The Lab will NOT write essays for you. In fact, I have very deliberately not put full sample essays in the Lab since I've found that those do more harm than good when candidates then (perhaps even without realizing it!) copy what's in there -- which is a bad idea not only in terms of originality, but also in terms of risking getting caught by the schools' plagiarism checking software. Speaking of the A.W.A., don't forget that admissions officers are able to pull up your A.W.A. writing sample and if the essay sounds waaaaay different from the A.W.A. (that is, if it doesn't sound like
you), then it might raise some eyebrows.
2) The Lab is NOT for people who want a lot of hand-holding. Yes, my team and I are happy to answer quick questions / clarifications that come in to our support inbox, but aside from that, the Lab is BEST for people who are self-motivated and have a "DIY" mind-set. Candidates who are unwilling to dig into content to find answers themselves, or who would like to run every single thing past someone (e.g. second-guessing / wanting validation on every little thing) would be much better served by a traditional consultant (and, of course, be prepared to pay the large sums these experts deserve for their time)!
3) People who don't like to have a little fun. I remember how unnecessarily stressful this process is, so I try to inject humor / levity wherever I can, to try to keep clients' spirits up. Sure, given how much I know, I COULD present this info in a dry, professorial way with GRAVITAS -- but nah, life's too short.
I hope this helps explain! Let me know if anything else is still a question-mark!
Thanks!,
Maria

Hi GC Members ,
I am planning to take the
Applicant lab for the GMAT Essay + Interview tips .
Can someone highlight their experience here if they had used
Applicant lab ?
Did they find it useful and what type of their service we can enroll for ?
Would using
Applicant lab would be sufficient or do people need to get in touch with
Admission consultants as well atleast for the First school?
