I work for a value-oriented PE firm today. Basically, the best deals for us are companies with recurring cash flows (cyclical or not, as long as we can understand them) that we can buy at a low multiple on normalized cash flows. For instance, you buy a company with a total value of $100M that's generating $20M in unencumbered cash per year, in theory paying you back in 5 years (return of capital) and then continuing to pay you $20M, which along with an eventual sale, is your return on capital. That's the simple way of describing this. I love it.
I want to do a search fund to this effect, basically to buy a company like this myself, one where value can also be created by operational improvements (and through smart capitalization). B-school is a great way to do this. However, if this plan doesn't work out, I want my career to pretty much be a PE career.
So here's my question. With that said, what are the best 6 b-schools for me? Is there any reason to think it's just not the top 6? E.g., HBS, Wharton, GSB, Sloan, Booth, Kellogg? Thank you!!
