There is a pattern in such questions.
Look at the argument. The argument says that children who watch television programs that include acts of violence will commit a much greater number of violent acts.
Based on this the conclusion is drawn that such children(
those who commit violent acts) should be prevented from watching violent acts on television .
The argument is assuming that watching those programs on TV leads to violence acts committed by those children.
Now look at option D.
Quote:
(D) There are no other differences between the two groups of children that might account for the difference in violent behavior.
This option rules out all the possibilities other than watching violent acts on TV.
Hence this is our answer.IMO D
Very well explained, for survey / experiments and other general observations , basically there can be 2 groups -
1. Experimental group : Group on whihc experiment is being tested.
2. Control Group : Group which doesn't receive the treatment which is being tested.
The underlying principle must be such that both group must be alike in all terms and they must be homogeneous( ie there must not be any difference in the group being studied from the general polulation or Control Group)
This question tests the same and correct Answer must hence be (D)
