Completed the video questions this morning. Questions were generally straightforward, but I found it awkward to watch myself on video real time... it sort of threw me off. Overall I'm neutral about my performance.

I'm with you mate, I'm just trying hard not to think about my responses right now. In hindsight, I feel like I should've paced myself better, or wrapped up a response differently...but yeh I think I would interview much better if it were with a real person.
I feel like there may be a few delays in the decision days atleast for R1 if every adcom member has to evaluate the video component combined with the rest of the application...u know what that means-- more time to obsess over things we cant control:?

Just to provide some comfort: I did this video interview thing last year in R3 and thought that my interview was a disaster (didn't finish 2 answers in time and one of my responses was just awful..really awful) and I still got wait-listed....and I don't look like George Clooney, so looks didn't factor in. I think we all will be fine. Yale usually invites early in the process, so I am hoping the we start seeing some activity next week or so.

Good Luck all.

I just did mine, and I'd say it went neutral. I don't consider myself a great interviewer, mainly because I've been at one place my entire career and just haven't had to practice. The video aspect was more awkward than an in person, for sure. I also had lots of technical issues through the practices, with everything just freezing up and crashing, so that definitely added an extra layer of anxiety to the process. The idea of speaking to a screen instead of a person and having a countdown in front of you just felt cold.

I'd say the questions were pretty straight forward. Two were pretty typical job interview questions. One of those was arguable too open ended for the 90s cutoff. The third was actually a pretty interesting thought question, and my favorite of the three by far. I think they should have done them all in that style, and saved the standard interview questions for the actual interview.

Overall, it could have been better but it could have been worse and I'm glad it's out of the way. Really hoping for an interview invite.

Not much time to go before the video interview deadline. I have to say I enjoyed this experience quite a bit. Some feedback below.

a) Do not leave it till the end to complete. You could run into technical issues.
b) 90 secs is a lot of time, so do not panic.
c) Do not forget to switch off your mobile and put it somewhere else :-).

Takeaway for me - It is much less stressful than we imagine in our minds it would be. Just apply your wits and you will be fine.

Good Luck to those who are yet to complete it!

I was neutral about my webcam interview overall. I got nervous during the first question while the last two were a bit better. We are recorded for 4 minutes and 30 seconds. It boils down to how you presented your verbal fluency and body language. No way you can give a detailed response in 90 seconds. This gives the adcoms a first impression.

My technical challenge was with the slow internet speed. I reset the cable modem and was fine afterward.

SOM traditions featured in BusinessWeek! Enjoy. https://www.businessweek.com/articles/20 ... s-4029-cup

Also, saw that a few folks indicated they have interview invites. If that's so, congrats!!

Well, we still have a long way to go. Yale keeps sending invites up until a month before the deadline. I think the legendary @aerien got his invite pretty late last year, and he is the most popular SOM current student.

Seriously! Did they have to word it that way? I just saw "Yale School of Management," "You're Invited" and "Thank you for your Round 1 application" and it got all my hopes up before they were promptly dashed.
