About to sent in my round 2 application. I must say, I don't think I did too well on the video questions, got some pretty odd-ball questions lol

For the round 2 folks, try your best but don't stress out too much over the video questions. I didn't think that I did very well on the questions, but I was still admitted in round 1. The adcom definitely isn't expecting perfection. It's just another way to get to know your personality.

Please dress appropriately. If you read Bruce's recent blog on video questions, he mentioned "Please dress appropriately". I recently did that for my Kellogg video essay (I know, it feels funny talking to a webcam, all dressed up with loads of makeup)

I only wore my boxer shorts waist down... but wore a shirt, jacket and tie otherwise. Hopefully they don't have crazy CSI technology where they can see what people were wearing waist down from the video!

You can probably get away with this with your GMAT score ;)

FYI:

"With the video questions, we are not focused on how they are dressed, though I am telling people not to do this in their pajamas. But you don’t have to be wearing a suit and tie. We are really trying to get at the more substantive traits that have to do with someone’s ability to articulate their thoughts–not what they look like or how they present on a superficial level."

I also think it's better to dress up to be on the safe side. I did my video interviews after I got home from work so I wore what I had worn to work that day (my workplace's quite formal). Just had to touch up my make up & adjusted the room's lighting :)

I did it in the office after work, so pretty "appropriate" dressing.
But I did not wear makeup.

By the way, IF being invited to interview, either face to face or via Skype, are we (ladies) expected to wear makeup? (I seldom to that.. look weird with makeup on my face..)

So folks over at the Kellogg thread are in a state of panic because Kellogg's app system ended the R2 application deadlines 24 hours before they said it would (night of 1/6 instead of 1/7).

I would suggest folks applying to Yale to get their apps submitted by tomorrow in case the same glitch occurs with Yale.
Yale and Kellogg both use the same third party vendor.

Great info.

Other news: My recommender has been unable to submit his recommendation for the last 24 hours. Perhaps another kink.

On the application, in the Work Experience section, how are you guys approaching this short answer prompt:

Quote:
Please provide any additional information you feel will help us understand these career interests more fully. (150 words maximum)

Do you know if they corrected the amount of words the prompt accepts from last year? I read that last year said 150 words, but was in fact 150 characters.

Lame. I'm filling out this section now, and even though it says it's 150 words maximum, it's not.
It seems to be 900 characters (with spaces) maximum. Need to rewrite my short answer as it's over 1000 characters...

Yowza. Thankfully, it looks like the issue has been solved, and Kellogg has extended their deadline to January 9. I wouldn't mind a temporary glitch if it came with an extra 48 hours to submit...

LOL. Thanks, aerien! Meeting current students at the Winter Social helped me make up my mind. Very glad not to be doing any R2 applications anymore!

Any chance you could sum up what they shared that pushed you over the edge to make your up mind?

Guys, have a small question.

Is the deadline for submitting 2nd round 11:59PM ET or 5:00PM ET. For video essay, it is explicitly mentioned as 5:00PM ET 9th of Jan, but for submitting the application no clear timings are mentioned on the website. I am assuming it is 11:59PM. Any of you have any idea about this?
