Hey pkdaddu,
Let me begin by mentioning that you have a
decent profile. Your GPA in undergrad is decent enough, but your
postgraduate GPA is really good, as anything above 3.5 allows you to apply to all the top schools abroad. You not only have
good international exposure from Carnegie Mellon University but have also bagged a
good scholarship. This definitely adds a plus point to your profile.
Your
three years of work experience with Bill and Melinda Gates is a
major highlight, but you can elaborate on what you did there and how you impacted people and social work.
Try doing the quantification, as all the business schools will look at the impact that you’ve made. Your 4 years of experience in public sector consulting also needs quantification, and you can mention the clients you worked with, how you were able to increase efficiency for them, and how you provided doctors to different hospitals on time.
In your profile, what you lack is a brand name because you'll be competing with people coming in from Deloitte, KPMG, and other organizations. It's not a deal breaker, but you must create a context, or persona, in which you can better portray yourself.
Your
extracurricular activities are pretty strong, and your volunteer experience is excellent. You must aim for a few courses and certifications that align with your goals.
Yale is a
dream school for everyone, but unfortunately it has a very
low acceptance rate, so try aiming for a
720 or higher on the GMAT.
I will
recommend that you look for
other schools like it:
1. Duke
2. Cornell
3. NYU Stern
4. UCLA
5. Wharton
