In the last 15 years, I've probably read 10,000 personal statements. As such, I've seen just about every way that somebody can fumble this vital part of their application. From the zany (writing in all-caps) to the inexplicably dumb (using two dozen curse words in a 350-word essay), I've seen it all. What I realized, though, is that there are some mistakes that are so common that most applicants will make at least one of them. In this series, we go through the most common ones and how you can avoid making them.
