Hi indiagmataspirant.

Considering that, normally, you score much higher on quant, actually, you could have score in the 600s on your GMAT if you had scored at your normal level in quant, since, in verbal, you did better than usual.

On another note, if you contact me via the TTP chat, I can check your Analytics and see what they indicate about what you can do to increase your score.

Hi indiagmataspirant,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day did not turn out better. From what you describe though, you were not scoring close to a 700+ during your studies - and if that (or a Score that is close to it) is your Goal, then you have to give yourself enough time to achieve it. Unfortunately, that type of score improvement in just 3 weeks is likely too difficult to be considered realistic. I think that you can certainly train to score at a higher level, but you'll need to make some fundamental changes to how you 'see' (and respond to) BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections before you will be able to consistently score at a much higher level.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours did you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your actual goal score?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

550 (v32 q32)

For Verbal, have suggested Manhattan-Prep's 6th Edition for SC and CR. Had a 6-hour student who went from a v31 to a v40 in about 30 days in which we went over solving approach, so see if you can improve things on that end if you feel your fundamentals are solid. Working with a study buddy may be helpful too.

There's an idiom list on the GMAT Knight blog you might find helpful for SC, too.
