A virtual classroom not only provides learners with lecture videos and interactive environment, but also supports active learning by providing with learning materials and contextual discussion. As per survey in schools and colleges, teachers believe that they can, as in a traditional classroom, take advantage of relative cues to make points and to verify that the points have been understood, while students already love to use various learning tools and chat-room to control their learning pace. Therefore companies in business of virtual classrooms have a promising future unless ______________.

Which of the following answer choices completes the passage most appropriately?

A. the teachers mentioned in the passage do not realise that on a lecture video the students cannot notice the teachers’ gestures as well as they can in a traditional classroom.

B. the local government does not forbid using virtual classrooms rather than traditional ones in schools and colleges.

C. there is no lack of synchronisation between the course material and virtual platform.

D. the developers are unable make available some practical means to provide instant contextual reactions of the students.

E. the “streaming” technology to render the lecture videos can be made more efficient so as to show the teachers’ cues more clearly to the students.

Premise: Using virtual classroom, teachers surveyed claim that they can make points and verify the points have been understood.
Conclusion: This business has a promising future.

"unless" before the blank indicates that a weakener is needed.

Pre-thinking: We need a disadvantage of virtual classroom that prevents teachers from delivering and getting their points acknowledged.

Moving on to 5 options:

A. the teachers mentioned in the passage do not realise that on a lecture video the students cannot notice the teachers’ gestures as well as they can in a traditional classroom.
--> As long as teachers don't realize this problem, they still keep positive belief as mentioned in the premise. No doubt that the product will sell well. STRENGTHENER. OUT.

B. the local government does not forbid using virtual classrooms rather than traditional ones in schools and colleges.
--> Good news - Virtual classrooms are not forbidden. STRENGTHENER. OUT.

C. there is no lack of synchronisation between the course material and virtual platform.
--> "no lack of synchronization" is definitely an advantage of the product. STRENGTHENER. OUT

D. the developers are unable make available some practical means to provide instant contextual reactions of the students.
--> Then the teachers cannot know whether their students understand the lessons. WEAKENER. CORRECT.

E. the “streaming” technology to render the lecture videos can be made more efficient so as to show the teachers’ cues more clearly to the students.
--> There is room for further development of “streaming” technology. STRENGTHENER. OUT.
