How much does an academic probation weigh on your application? Let's say your GMAT score is 660, gpa 3.18. I was part of a doctorate program. You get a bachelors first and then doctorate. The gpa is low because I was technically taking graduate level courses as part of my Bachelors and the probation was because I didn't make it to complete the Doctorate due to the low GPA. Work experience is 3 years- 1.5 years at startup company as well as 1.5 years at a big well known company.
Well it depends on lots of things - what happened, what your reasons are, and how you have proven yourself since. I mean, if you decided you didn't want to to a PHD, then okay... no big deal right. Your GPA will still be low for Top 10, even 20 programs, but you can do what you can to come back with a better GMAT.
Everything depends on you, your goals, and the rest of your profile as well.
But just going on academic probation does not mean "Game Over."
Best,
