First thing I believe is incorrect is “proves itself helpful.” This eliminates B,C,D.

Just reading the remaining choices, E sounds best to me. OA?

Hi,
That shoots cannot be used as it shows as if the canon is shooting on its own.
And then from A, B & C A as to demonstrate is the idiom

Ok then I choose A.

"to demonstrate" is better than the other options. As noted before, "proves itself helpful" just doesn't sound right. What has proved itself? The cannon?
