Also, would product management be a justified shift considering my background and bag an offer in the recruitment market?

Thanks for your question! A couple of quick thoughts - First of all, you seem to have some solid extracurriculars which schools really value these days - especially if you have had leadership positions. On the other hand, your 1 year and 9 months of work experience would put you on the very low end of what most schools are looking for. Most schools average somewhere in the 4 to 5 year range at this point. Your target GMAT score would put you in the mix for the schools you list, but if there is a possibility to improve it beyond your expected 720, you should try to do so. The target schools you suggest are probably at the right level, but you might also consider a couple of "safety" schools beyond those that you list.

Hi. There are a couple of things you should think about. First of all, you should try to achieve a high GMAT score. 750 sounds like an good target as you are in a competitive category. Second, you don’t mention your GPA, which will be an important component in addition to your work experience. In terms of your work experience, you should think about how much opportunity you have had to demonstrate leadership as a CA. We’re you doing anything that stood out and would get you an outstanding recommendation? Not just great ratings, but where you recommender can describe what you did and convey why it was special? Also, be careful about having too many things at once. Business schools like to see a deep focus, rather than several different things at once. In terms of schools, I think you have targeted schools that are still competitive, but not quite as difficult as some others, which is good. In terms of vs. a finance degree, it depends on whether you feel you have strong work experience. If you do, then you can apply for an MBA program. If you don’t have much experience yet, then you could explore a master’s in finance. (I am less familiar with those programs)

Thanks! Your BCG experience will serve you well. That will play well with most admissions committees. I would shoot for a higher GMAT score if possible as a 710 will be lower than average for most of the top schools. You didn’t mention much in the way of extracurriculars but that will also be important. You should focus your application on some of the more interesting aspects of your consulting work (I’m sure there are some) and what you learned from those experiences.

Hi ShivamDuby0206. It’s great that you have such high ratings at work and that you have managed a large team of people. It’s also good that you have some extracurricular to point to. My question is around your family business - that can sometimes work for people, but it is harder for schools to evaluate that. Your PwC recommendation will have to be particularly strong since it will need to compensate for one where they don’t know the context with which to evaluate it. Also get a client or supplier to write your family business recommendation, not someone who works for a family member. It will also be helpful if you can point to big changes you’ve made in the business - increased revenue or profits, new product line, etc. I think your profile is potentially acceptable, but I might put one or two schools that are just outside the top 10 on the list as well. For the GMAT, as high as you can get.
