A. If A were true then..Because of their travel, they were able to meet more lobbyists than their challengers. Therefore they definitely had an advantage

So why is the author thinking, that the incumbents have an advantage over their challengers in elections for the United States Congress??
(A) In the last congressional elections, incumbents met with a larger number of lobbyists than did challengers.
So is there any relationship given between incumbents meeting the lobbyists, and they providing some benefits to the incumbents, it isn't given right ??

78% (incumbent senators) said that their challengers did not pose a serious threat, does not mean that for sure they wont cause any harm in the real elections
