A. Being that he was the only nominee, it’s not surprising -----> redundant (should be "being the only nominee". try to avoid "being" in GMAT)
B. Being that he was the only nominee, its not surprising ------> possessive is incorrect
C. Being that he was the only nominee and it’s not surprising ----> "dependent clause" - "and" - "independent clause" incorrect structure.
D. Although he was the only nominee, it’s not surprising ----> wrong meaning
E. Given that he was the only nominee, it’s not surprising ---> correct grammar and meaning.

it should be tagged under sub-600 level questions.
