I took the GMATprep from MBA.com and had a dismal performance to say the least. With Quant being my weakest subject I am looking for some good books to begin studying up. I am thinking about the following books.

Total GMAT Math by Jeff Sackmann

The Official Guide for GMAT Review Paperback

Foundations of GMAT Math, 5th Edition (Manhattan GMAT Preparation Guide: Foundations of Math)

I also downloaded the MAGOOSH Complete Guide to GMAT.

My main concern is with so much material available I do not want to get something that is out of date especially with the recent changes to the exam.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm having some trouble practicing for the GMAT and I'm looking for some advice. I'm trying to practice difficult questions (700+) to beat the 700 threshold, however I'm having trouble finding questions for good practice. I have the following books:

MGMAT Set of 8: Has hard questions but not enough for a good amount of practice

Kaplan Gmat Premier: all of the questions seem like low difficulty questions

Princeton Review 1037 practice questions: all of the questions seem like low difficulty questions

The Official Guide 2015: all of the questions seem like low difficulty questions

All of these books (except for MGMAT) seem just too easy compared to the real thing. Where can I go to practice difficult questions to get me past the 700 mark?

Hey all,

I'm pretty much disturbed with how my studying goes now and would really appreciate advice from you. So, I've thoroughly read all Manhattan Guide books and started practicing real questions and it's still SO difficult, esp. with Math, even though I've been doing this for a while already. I have never had problems with math and expected this would be easier. I suck with almost any new type of question I see and even with some I already met and read an explanation (even including 600-points level).

Would you advice to read some more theory or just practice as much as possible? Does it happen with other people?:)

I have just finished reading the Total GMAT Math book by Jeff Sackmann.
I am an Undergraduate Economics student and I am currently at a 46-47 lvl at the Quantitative section.
I have concluded that:

1) Its a well-written and comprehensive book for everyone that starts from 0 with very good explanations about the problems.
2) Its a beginner's book. You won't be able to improve yourself from Q45 to Q47 for example.
3) Its questions are either too easy (which is not bad, because it lets you understand deeply each section) or of medium difficulty (Challenges problems).
4) This book can also be useful if you want to revise some basics about Maths.

Overall, I think that 50$ (approximately) is a really nice price for the book even though it didn't help me get my Quant score a step further.

I' ve also bought MGMAT's Advanced Quant book. I will give a review once I read it.

Too helpful of a thread to be buried!

Thank you! We do have a more recent one: best-gmat-verbal-books-2016-edition-217254.html

I am going to lock this one for the time being and ask everyone to continue the discussion there.
