Wanted to share my profile and understand how I stand as compared to the INSEAD applicant pool. I also wanted to understand if I should apply for R2 of Jan 2025 or R1 of September 2025? Is there a benefit in waiting for R1 instead of applying in R2?

2.5 years consulting internship
5 years of running my own business in consulting (brand/marketing)
2.5 years of working as a transformation program manager in a ship management company across geographies (UK, Philippines, Monaco)

Goal:
Strategy/Consulting (MBB) as a path to be a business leader

Extracurriculars:
Include Toastmasters, Capstone Project, Public Speaking Engagements
Best manager award and Entrepreneur of the Year from college

Academics:
Top 10%ile in College across metrics, resulted in a free international business immersion program from the college

4.0/5.0 GPA+

GMAT FE 635 (85th %ile)
Verbal: 84 (91st)
Data Insights: 82 (94th)
Quant: 78 (52nd)

Would greatly appreciate any inputs.

sarthakbaijal - interesting profile. Would like to understand your work-ex better, but broadly, your GMAT is on the lower side given the competitive Indian Male cohort. Particularly, the lower Quant split would raise eyebrows, given your consulting goals. Would suggest a retake to improve your odds, and looking at the Round/ Intake accordingly.

Key Differences between INSEAD's Jan and Aug intakes including some insider insights are here. The main difference is that Jan intake provides the opportunity for an internship.

I have my company sporsorship, ~4 years of strategy consulting & payments background from LATAM (Brazil) and men (no diversity)

Just scored 625 o GMAT focus (geral 82th percentil, 59th quantitative reasoning, 91th verbal reasoning, 86th data insights)

Do you guys thinks it’s feasible to be approved? Planning to apply for R2

@BrazilianBaker- your consulting experience and company sponsorship are strong angles. Unfortunately, the GMAT (particularly Quant) would be a risk. Given that INSEAD is a rigorous and fast paced program, demonstrating quantitative acumen becomes crucial. Would suggest a retake (or switching to GRE) to increase your odds.

There is scope for improvement on the GMAT too.

Hi @BrazilianBaker,

the 105 TOEFL score is a recommendation, not a requirement. Therefore, it is not strict.

I personally know plenty of applicants who have been accepted with a lower score than 105.
