Not sure if there´s any alumni in the forum or anyone who has already received off-campus interview options, but let´s try.

I´ve been invited to interview and chose to do off-campus, as I´m based out of Brazil. They say interviews take place between 3 weeks (from 19th/Oct to 07th/Nov), however out of these 3 weeks, I´ll only be in Sao Paulo in the first 2. Will they share like 3 or 4 timing options or will they send just the final appointment and I´ll have to adapt myself?

I was in the same situation - from São Paulo, but temporarily working in Rio in the following weeks.

Once you choose the off-campus interview, Booth will match you with an alumni and then you contact him/her directly. I had no problem in scheduling my interview in a date that fits both (it will interview only in early November, but it was the best date for us).

Woohuu!! Invited to interview. I chose off-campus because I visited the school earlier this year before applying.
I did a presentation about the photo of the Winter Garden’s celling, talked a lot about abstractness, reflection of light and permeation of knowledge…

All the best, keep positive, according to a friend of mine that is currently a student and has close relationship to Adcoms, 50% of the invites will come out tomorrow!

I did a traditional essay. I used the picture to connect my personality, my professional story and Booth's value.

I think they key is not to force any picture in your story or try to fit a story in your favorite picture.

My essay just worked with the picture and it was very fluid.

My story also had and incredible connection with Booth's values, so that helped a lot, I guess.

i did a powerpoint. it was 6 pages and approx 500 words and it ended up looking like a brochure for university of chicago. I think the reason i got an invite was because the powerpoint and the content of my essay gave the reader a very clear view into why I want an MBA and what i'm going to do with it.

i used original photos from my trip to chicago and i incorporated the photo from the essay into the narrative I was trying to get across.

They have many. There are all these and also collaborative culture. The one that most resonates with me is that they value data over dogma. This is an approach that I have used in pretty much all my major work accomplishments.

Chose one that you can relate to. Better now?

Hi gadela,

Was your ppt very text heavy or well balanced? What I mean is was it more like a traditional essay (text heavy) with some picture in it Or more like a typical presentation. Of course the contents and its proportion may differ in my case, but just to get the high level idea.

Also, do we need to talk about the essay picture through out essay or we can relate to it and then align our story. The story that I have in mind for my essay is just identify one missing trait from the essay and relate it to the gap that I need to fill up by doing MBA. In this context, the essay picture come more like one time and then its all about why me n mba etc. Not sure if this is a good approach.

the space i used on each page was approximately 60% images, and 40% text. i used various principles of graphic design to make certain text stand out and emphasize some lines. so i'd say it's really graphic heavy, with a sophisticated feel to it. it honestly looks like a brochure for booth! i don't feel comfortable sharing a link to it because it has alot of personal details but to give you an idea of the look and feel, i would liken it MOST to a middle-school textbook.

i just linked to 2 random middle-school textbooks that i found online..... i sort of used the same format. The images help tell the story. The words aren't too dense, and there are engaging graphics and color patterns that keep the reader engaged.

that's just the way I went. it was pretty playful but it looked sharp so i felt comfortable submitting.

if i were to tone it down a bit with the graphics and images, i think my essay probably would have looked like a pictorial from a website. i could see that being successful as well. here's an example of what i'm talking about.
