IMHO, this year the schools are shooting themselves in the foot by putting a huge pool of applicants on Waitlist. It appears that rather than ’a bird in hand’, they want to wait and watch if they get three in a bush (the additional rounds many have added). This just means that most international applicants, even if they make it to an admit from the WL, will fail to get the necessary visa in time. Schools do not control the speed of visa process; they just run a business.

Yes, I completed what was asked during the call with my waitlist contact. In subsequent comms, I asked whether anything else was required to which she replied that my previous update was sufficient. After that I was told that my profile would be re-evaluated after R2.

So, I have managed to stay jitteringly optimistic somehow :-P

As an international candidate who is WL, I could not agree more.

However, I am curious to know if the top schools really care about international applicants. Because their actions of mass WL are saying something else.

It’s an email from an AO saying they want to schedule a call to discuss an update to your application. I’m pretty sure they only do it for international applicants though
