Re-posting here the R1 decision timeline posted by an R1 applicant. Hope it will help R2 folks understand pattern of admission calls.

Do we think they are done with east coast calls? Not that many people have reported calls yet today

I don't think so. Based on my observations from reported call times from this year (on clear admit, gmatclub) and last year (on gmatclub), I note a few things:

1) They do appear to begin phoning many international folks first.
2) They also appear to begin phoning folks from the east coast first and move westward.

However, I also note that eventually (i.e. today and tomorrow--yes, people received calls up until the afternoon PST on the decision day) the calls seem to be scattered throughout depending upon whether it's a reasonable time in that location. For instance, come 6pm PST today they might phone people from the west coast and save some east coasters for the following morning. My guess is that they initially prioritize those folks who may be difficult to get in touch with on the first try (internationals, those with differing time zones), and then basically try to strategically call people based on their time zone.

I wouldn't give up hope until/unless you receive that e-mail telling you you're dinged or on the waitlist.

I'm a bit unclear - does anyone know if they tell you scholarships during the phone call? I was under the impression there was a completely different scholarship process.

Only one call today. I'm hoping they let loose tomorrow with a ton of calls and that there are still a few left for East Coasters. Pretty sure I'm getting a denial from Kellogg today but IDC because I want Haas more than anything.

FROM Haas Admissions Blog: How Long does it take to get a part-time MBA? Zen Menon's Answer


Zen Menon entered the Evening & Weekend Berkeley MBA Program expecting to finish in 2.5 years, but ended up choosing to spend 3 years in the program. Here's why he changed his timeline and why he's glad he did.


Zen chose Berkeley-Haas in part for its accelerated part-time MBA option, but it turned out that what prompted him to choose Haas isn't what kept him here. "The strong cohort community made me want to extend my time at Haas," he says. "I realized I didn't want to come in, do my thing, and get out. I wanted to continue building strong relationships."

Zen also pivoted to a 3-year plan to make a career change to venture capital. "I sold my startup company, and my goal was to become a VC partner in 5 years," he says, "and many current VCs advised that I stay at Haas longer and work for a startup in the meantime, using the extra time to experiment with different roles, like product management and business development."

The extra time Zen gave himself led to an exploration of management consulting and search funds, which help entrepreneurs raise funds through private equity investments, and which aligned with his previous background as a startup owner.

“The extra time at Haas allows you to explore options, take time to figure out what fits, and prolong that valuable time with a growing network.


Zen advises other students who are asking themselves if they should choose an accelerated MBA option to determine what they really want out of their time in the program.

How long does it take to get a part-time MBA? "Ask yourself, 'Is this just to move up a little bit in my career?' Perhaps this is the time to make a really transformative move," says Zen. "Consider this as a time to reboot your life.'"

Can't wrap my mind around Haas's process for calling. Anyone know if there is still hope if one is from NY? Based on past rounds Haas tends to call a lot of the West Coast on decision day...

Nothing yet. Starting to lose hope, but also see on live wire that very few calls have gone out in the last 24 hours. Let's wait it out another day and see what Haas has in store for us. All the best to everyone who's in the same boat!

Any idea when does the Haas calls go out today? How many Indian candidates get call in R2? Thanks.
