Hi Erika - any suggestions on what “Further Consideration” candidates can do to improve odds?

Hi, are all Zoom and London slots filled instantly, or is there an issue with the reservations system?
I kept refreshing every few seconds and was able to secure a zoom interview window. Act quick as soon as you see a session open up!

Hi,

Does anyone know if new interview slots will be released? Wasn't able to sign in when the slots were released and now all the Zoom and nearby in-person slots have been filled... not sure I would be able to make the travel for any of the outstanding interview slots.

Thanks!

I think it would be wise to write to the HBS Admissions team on this?

Same question. Any suggestions for those in this bucket?

I do have suggestions but you're not going to like them!

1) Unless they have specifically requested or clearly stated that it is OK if you send them one (ONLY ONE!!!) update with new information before the Round 2 deadline, do not send them anything else or try to talk to the adcom about it or call them, etc. I can't remember if they allowed this in past years for Further Consideration candidates or only waitlisted candidates. So they might not let you send in anything. They will basically consider you as if you applied in Round 2. It means they want to compare you to other likely similar (on-paper, in at least some major regard) candidates who come through and then they'll made their decision on you (vs them).

2) If you do end up not following their requests and you DO contact them, you're giving them a very good reason to ding you, because HBS (and, really, any MBA program) is desperately trying to steer clear of "I'm Special and Your Rules Don't Apply to Me" personalities. If you have people send in more letters on your behalf or email the adcom or send in more stuff, you're just broadcasting that you're self-absorbed and don't respect rules and did not consider the fact that the adcom is really busy with other stuff besides deciding your fate." I know this is harsh, but it's true.

So in one sense you should be relieved there's nothing more you can do, and you now have to wait an extra 3-4 months to learn their decision. But I know on the other hand is it frustrating ... some might say maddening ... for Type A overachieving MBA candidates to not take things into their own hands and do SOMETHING to take charge. But you really have to push back against that instinct right now.

I hope this helps. Best of luck to all! I HAVE had many clients who were R1 FR'd go on to get interviews and ultimately accepted at HBS, so you DO have reason to keep hope alive!

Thank you for this thorough treatment on the issue! Especially love the part about screening the rules don’t apply to me candidates. +1 on all of this

Thank you so much for the thorough response. Completely agree. They did say that we will be able to send an update on mid-November: "however, sometime in November, you will have the opportunity to submit an update that will be considered along with your submitted application." So I’ll wait for that. But again, thanks for providing your view on the subject!

Hi, I recommend you keep checking the Zoom slots as a few of the students have been requested to move to in person interview making more slots available for remote candidates

Hi - if you received an interview and sign up for an in-person session, does a confirmation show up on the application portal? I received a confirmation e-mail but my portal doesn't show anything

Is HBS worth trying for in R2? Worried about the avalanche of FANGG applicants which may hit in Round 2. Hoping they’re too late for this year, but if they have a GMAT, they might get in on time.
