Had my second interview yesterday, very warm and friendly and made me feel extremely comfortable.

Questions included:
1) Walk me through your resume
2) Why HKUST, Why MBA
3) What would you do if in your study group you had two team members who were at logger heads
4) What are you excited about from an MBA program and what are you afraid off?
5) How did you get involved in your entrepreneurial venture?
6) What 3 words would your classmates use to describe you post MBA?

Overall I felt happy about the interview and hope for a positive result

I also had almost similar questions. The first question she asked me was on what I liked about my first interview. Its been more than two weeks since I had my first interview and I vaguely remember what exactly I discussed in my first interview. This question caught me off guard. She did grill me on my goals and on resolving the conflict among team members.

Overall, it was more of conversational in nature though she was grilling me on my answers. It went for almost 30 minutes.

A fellow entrepreneur! I had my interview yesterday as well and was asked more or less the same questions (I was asked a couple of questions related to my GMAT - I scored a little less than 700 - and would I accept HKUST ahead of another US B-School where I have secured an admission). I wouldn't be surprised if we had the same panel.

How was your interview with the ad-com ?

Has your university already sent the official transcripts to HKUST ?

HKUST's requirement is a bit unusual in that generally colleges ask for original transcripts only after accepting the admission offer .

It seems that HKUST asks for original transciprts prior to admission offer. Here is the excerpt from the email I received for my 2nd round interview .

[i]"2. Original copies of academic document(s). If you are attending a Skype interview, you can mail the document(s) to the MBA Office:
- Official transcript in an envelope sealed by your University / the issuing organization"

Is my understanding correct ?

Thank you so much.

I answered this question quoting examples from my own startup/venture. Specifically, how I used certain leadership styles to resolve conflict and ensure continued productivity.

I also noticed you asked a question related to submitting official transcripts as part of the interview process. I can clarify that one does not need to send the document immediately, you could wait for an admit and then send forth your documents as required. (I received this clarification from a current student).

I interviewed with couple of ad-com members, one of whom was also an alumni. The interview lasted for around 30 minutes and was pretty much in lines with Interview de-briefs above. Being a re-applicant, they had some questions on how i improved my candidature since last year. Also, given that i come from private equity background, am i ready to take the "Mandarin" leap? More on what can i bring to the classroom...and the standard, non-stressful discussion.

I am not sure if i received a note for sending out transcripts in advance of my interviews. I never got such a notification. Even if that were the case, i can tell you its not unique to HKUST. For almost all the European and Asian colleges i applied to (read HEC, Said, CUHK, etc.) - everyone did request original transcript in advance of admissions offer.
But i haven't received any such notification yet from HKUST.

You have admits from top schools across 3 continents . Where do you plan to go ? :lol:

By the way, did you get interview invite last year ? I had a fairly okay interview. I have a non standard background (health insurance / reinsurance experience with a fortune 10 player) in India, good gmat score and decent academics. I want to focus my career in Asia Pacific. Therefore, HKUST naturally is a top choice for me. I just wanted to gauge my chances as my interview was okay ( I feel that I could have answered a couple of questions better :( )

Is there a facebook group, or a wechat/whatsapp, to liaise with fellow admits?

Been wondering the same thing. I don't think there is one yet though. Let me check with a few other admits on this forum, perhaps we could create one soon.

Guys we can set up a whats app group pretty quickly. If you can pm me your number i can set up one if not already in place
