Thanks a lot for the info. Can you please tell how much time do you get to schedule the 2 interviews in case you get shortlisted for interview. I am asking because I have to schedule some travelling.
About three weeks

Hi Shwetamed,

you’re typically given 3-4 weeks to complete both interviews, and your interviewers are aware of this deadline. When you receive the email with their names and contact information, they also get an email informing them that you’ll be reaching out. That email specifies the deadline as well.

That said, the deadline isn’t set in stone. Occasionally, interviewers may reply late and decline the interview. In such cases, your AO will pair you with new interviewers. If this happens close to the deadline, your AO can extend it to ensure there’s enough time.

If I were you, I’d schedule your travel at your convenience. Interviews can be conducted virtually anyway. However, if you strongly prefer in-person interviews, be sure to mention your preference and travel plans when contacting your interviewers. Many interviewers will try their best to accommodate this.

I hope this helps.

Warm regards,
Alex

Hey. Which admission consultant is good for INSEAD interview prep? Applicants who have used someone and found it particularly helpful, please suggest.

astatine01
For future candidates, below was my timeline for reference
• 10 Sep: Application submission + INSEAD R1 Deadline For Complete application
• 12 Sep: KIRA (I submitted everything few hours before deadline - strong urge to keep double-checking for any errors)
• 3 Oct: my interview shortlist notification
• 8 Oct: Interviewer names communicated
• 11 Oct: INSEAD’s R1 Interview Decision notification
• 13 Nov: I got admitted
• 15 Nov: INSEAD’s Final decision notification
Thanks a lot for the info. Can you please tell how much time do you get to schedule the 2 interviews in case you get shortlisted for interview. I am asking because I have to schedule some travelling.

Could someone please DM the chat group for the admits? Thanks in advance!

ARLeeConsultingThanks for the detailed response!
On virtual vs in-person - I think it depends on where you think you’ll be stronger - I really wanted my interviews to happen in-person and changed my travel plans to make that happen. One was in-person and it went really well. Second one unfortunately became online - it went good only but not as great as the first one. Generally you tend to give a stronger impression in-person as online can be a bit disengaging. Having said that, I’ve seen plenty of candidates get admit through only virtual interviews as well. Also some interviewers themselves prefer online interviews.

Hi glagad

The crux is that applications for the January intake are known to be slightly more competitive because of:
  1. The opportunity to do an internship. Individuals targeting investment banking and career switchers are particularly serious about the January intake. Those looking to enter the UK market also find the January intake more reliable.
  2. Relatively less interest from sponsored or non-sponsored consultants, who flock in large numbers to the Fall class (as most do not want to do an internship). This potentially increases the overall acceptance rate for the September intake.
I would say the acceptance rate for the January intake is lower, as more career switchers aim to secure a spot due to the internship opportunity, although the school never officially discloses this. People looking to pivot industries/roles/ functions after the August intake should ideally have done their homework before the session begins, as there is no break period after. Many students take up internships before starting classes at INSEAD, which helps during recruitment.

Also explains why INSEAD includes the essay question: "If you are currently not working or if you plan to leave your current employer more than two months before the program starts, please explain your activities and occupations between leaving your job and the start of the program." August intake candidates, especially those not coming from consulting (or not necessarily targeting consulting), take this seriously because their outcomes depend on it.

Best wishes
