Hi Tanmay19091999, You have done good work in launching 0-1 products. B2B startups are known for providing a lot of life and business lessons and definitely you would be having lot of impact and learning stories to share. The marks are okayish, a little less in graduation. Overall, good work profile. Plan for 655+ to be competitive. Best Wishes.

Hi nnikumbh19, Given the marks and work experience, a 675 should be a good score for you. While software engineering background will help you get better placement from the college but the competition to get in the college is high in this field. Hence requirement of slightly higher GMAT score. Best of luck for your GMAT exam.

Hey Nandini! Thanks for sharing your background — you’re off to a good start already. Your academics (especially 10th and BTech CGPA) are strong, and 3 years at an MNC gives you a credible work platform.

For schools like ISB or IIM PGPs, you’re in a highly competitive pool (Indian female in tech), so your GMAT Focus score becomes a key differentiator.

Here’s a rough guide:

Above 675: You’ll be in a strong zone for ISB and competitive for IIM PGPX (though most PGPX candidates have more work ex — 5+ years).

645–665: Decent but you’ll need strong essays, clear goals, and ideally some leadership or standout achievements.

Below 645: Tougher unless you have an exceptional story or other differentiators.

Happy to dive deeper if you’re still shaping your school list or goals. And if you want help framing your application story or test prep plan, CrackAdmission’s team can be a solid sounding board.

Hello,
Abhishek here,

Can someone suggest what should i be targeting competative GMAT score.
Age -28
10th - 90%
Engineering Diploma - 79%
Engineering Graduation -8.7 CGPA

Total full time work exp - 5+ years

Out of which
Initial 3 years are based on diploma.mainly in project management and manufacturing.worked in well known organisation.

Latest 2+ years(post graduation) are in design and product development.
Working in defence-aerospace startup setup.Developing some unique and first in nation products.

Also if anyone can guide on by latest when can I appear for GMAT if I am targeting R1 (purely because of max chances of scholarship)

To be solidly competitive for top Indian programs like ISB or IIM PGPX, and maximize your shot at scholarships:

Target 685+ on GMAT Focus Edition

655–675 is still competitive if your story, impact, and recos are strong. But chances of Scholarship would be minimal.

Below 655 makes it more of an uphill climb in this highly qualified pool as a Male applicant

Your 5+ years of experience — with clear growth and domain depth — aligns really well with what IIMs and ISB value in mid-career candidates.

Ideally take the GMAT by end of August /1st week of Sep at the latest

If you’re close, ISB allows score submission a few days after deadline — but aim earlier to leave room for retakes if needed

Let me know if you’re juggling prep with work — can suggest a smart prep timeline. And if you ever want personalized feedback on essays or story positioning, CrackAdmission has helped folks with profiles like yours land both admits and scholarships

Your profile is interesting and already shows growth.

Get a 655 GMAT score and I think you would have strong chances basis your write-up and interview performance

Hi Tanmay19091999,

You should aim for a 675+ on the GMAT as this will also help you make up for low grades during undergrad.
