From what you've shared, I'd say you've got a nice base to work with. Zomato, Blinkit, and now consulting is a solid combination, and the academics are good too.
For ISB, I'd aim for 685+. If you can get 705+, even better, it'll give you a lot more comfort.

Ruddy370

I actually like this profile. It's not just another digital marketing application, you've got a good mix of consulting, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
The travel venture is probably your biggest differentiator. ₹50L+ in revenue while working full-time is something I'd definitely highlight. Add in the LinkedIn presence and client-facing experience with Google, Meta, and Dentsu, and you've got a compelling story.

For the GMAT, I'd target 675+. If you're aiming for IIM A/B/C, I'd be happier with 705+. For ISB, 675+ with strong essays should put you in a good position.

Apart from ISB and IIM ABC, I'd also look at INSEAD, LBS, HEC Paris, Oxford, Cambridge Judge, and IESE if you're open to international programs. Your profile has the kind of leadership and entrepreneurial angle that these schools tend to appreciate.
The biggest thing now is making sure your application connects the dots, don't make it about "digital marketing." Make it about leading businesses, scaling ventures, and why an MBA is the next logical step.

This is a strong profile overall. Deloitte, PepsiCo, and JPMorgan Chase are all great brands, and you've got clear impact in each role instead of just listing responsibilities. The CFO recognition at JPMorgan and the savings initiative at PepsiCo are exactly the kind of achievements I'd lean into.

For ISB, I'd target 685+. Since you're also looking at European schools, a higher score will only help.
One thing I'd work on is making your Europe story feel intentional. If your long-term goal is relocating there, connect it to your experience (like the Europe program at PepsiCo) and explain why those schools fit that path.

Overall, I'd say this is a profile that should be competitive for ISB with a good GMAT and well-written essays.

Targeting ISB. Got 645 in GMAT
3 years of total workex -
0.5 year - Deloitte USI, Audit assistant
2.5 years - Equity research analyst at a PMS firm.

10th - 9.8 CGPA
12th - 95.75%
Bcom hons - 8.9 CGPA

CFA charterholder

Main thing I wanna is if i should give another GMAT attempt?

I scored Q81, V86, DI78. Really disappointed with DI. Quant also i thought i did better, i was getting a lot of tough questions maybe i just hit a string of wrong answers towards the end.
DI - i feel i had a weird mix of questions, 5/6 DS questions were non math, MSR was non math, Majority TPA was non math.
In my practice id say 70-75% were math related for these questions, i wasnt as sure in picking answers and that created time pressure as well.
I feel i can get more in DI for sure and maybe able to improve quant. Verbal ive hit 84-86 consistently in mocks also.

You've got a strong profile outside the GMAT. Great academics, Deloitte + equity research, and being a CFA charterholder definitely work in your favor.

For ISB, I'd only retake if you genuinely believe you can get to 685+. From what you've written, it doesn't sound like you're hoping for a lucky day, you've actually identified where the score dropped, especially in DI. If your mocks support that, one more attempt makes sense.

That said, if you think the realistic improvement is just 10-20 points, I'd probably move ahead with the application. A 645 won't rule you out at ISB, especially with the rest of your profile. It's really a question of whether you believe a 685 is achievable, not just possible.

Targeting ISB. Current GMAT score 655

Work ex 3 years as of today at a prestigious Healthcare consulting company.

I have a dual UG degree (Btech ECE and B. design) from a tier 2 university with a CGPA of 8.3
12th 95%
10th 8.4CGPA

I have been parts of clubs, founded my own club, part of zomato feeding india and other extra curriculars. I was a school head. I have been a part time logo design freelancer.
I come from a tier 3 city. I am a first generation engineer. And would be the first generation to pursue a masters degree let alone an MBA

I want to pursue MBA to pivot from niche healthcare to MBB frontend or a good high paying job. Also want to pursue MBA to break the glass ceiling when getting at a higher stage on the corporate ladder

1- Can you suggest what GMAT score I should target ( currently i though 705 puts me in a good spot)
2 - I had a V80 which has always been somewhat same but I think i havent put the right practice into it. Can someone suggest an approach to bump this up to a V85 in a month or two?

Thanks

Hi Meethappy

Beyond a 675, it is largely your profile, how you speak about your work, and your goals strategy that will take you through. Saying this as someone who works with a lot of healthcare professionals and consultants. If you have your foundations in the healthcare space, that is your strongest professional asset, and you should stick with this theme instead of saying you are passionate about moving into MBB or generic consulting roles without ample research or informed decision-making to back it up.

Admissions committees evoke the same passion about rooting for your case with which you write about your story and your motivations. Money-driven motivations generally do not read well, just as generic MBB goals do not. A move into better-positioned consulting firms could be a means of gaining the credibility to solve bigger problems or challenges, but what those challenges might be, and in which area, based on your own observations, is something you should talk about to differentiate yourself from the many strong healthcare professionals applying to these schools.

Feel free to have a one to one discussion.

Best wishes

Hi, I’m 26 M with close to five years of work experience, largely in the mental health and employee wellbeing space. I’ve worked with leading mental health-tech startups in India, helping build and take mental healthcare solutions to employee populations. I currently handle enterprise business sales for a mental health-tech company.

Mental health is also something I connect with personally. My own diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder and depersonalization is one of the reasons I wanted to be a part this space, and over time, that personal connection has become a large part of what I want to build my career around.

I’m now looking at an MBA, with ISB as one of my primary choices. Even after ISB, I’d like to stay within mental health/healthcare, either by continuing to build in the space or, eventually, starting something of my own focused on emotional health.

My academics are 71% in 10th, 78% in 12th, and an 8.7 CGPA in my BBA. I’m currently preparing for the GMAT and targeting 655, with about five months to go before the Round 3 deadline.

I’m also considering INSEAD and Wharton, especially Wharton because of its healthcare management program as one of their electives.

Given my profile, is 655 a reasonable GMAT target for ISB, or should I be aiming higher considering my school academics? And what sort of score would make sense if I want to seriously consider INSEAD and Wharton as well?

I think you should give it a go if you are confident that you can push your score even to the range of 675+

Plan for R2 and don’t take decision to go for R1 in haste if your true potential isn’t yet reflected in your GMAT score.

Your work experience (Healthcare consulting) aligns very well with your goal.

I won’t push much about 1st generation engineer unless the background is really something that shows a growth that a usually candidate doesn’t reflect.

Reach me out on text for more detailed discussion about your profile and how best it can be portrayed in application

655 is fine to go for ISB (not great though) however I suggest that you work on score to build a good profile for INSEAD AND WHARTON.

I would suggest that you tread your path for career in Mental health very carefully as it isn’t usual and one must be thorough about the possible questions and aptly prepared to handle them before making them front part of application.

Hi,

I would recommend spending some time refining your post-MBA goals. Wanting to move into MBB or simply aiming for a higher-paying role isn't, by itself, a compelling reason for an MBA. Your essays and interviews should clearly explain why you want to pursue that career path and how it connects with your past experiences and long-term aspirations.

If you can improve your GMAT Focus score by another 20–30 points and reach around 685, it would further strengthen your profile and make you more competitive for your target schools.

Happy to connect if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.

Hi,

Your career goals come across as genuine and are well aligned with both your professional experience and personal journey, which gives you a strong foundation for a compelling MBA application. For ISB, a GMAT Focus score of around 655 should keep you competitive. However, if you're also targeting INSEAD and Wharton, I would recommend aiming for 685+ to strengthen your chances. Your academic profile is solid overall, with a good undergraduate GPA helping to offset your school scores. As you prepare your applications, focus on highlighting your leadership experiences and clearly explaining how an MBA will help you create a greater impact in the healthcare and mental health space.

Happy to connect if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.

Please don't take this the wrong way because I am saying it with your long-term positioning in mind. Right now, you come across as being singularly fixated on mental health. Although that is your authentic passion, adcoms also want to see intellectual curiosity beyond one domain because the MBA is a degree designed to broaden perspectives.

In the B school apps, many applicants write beautifully about their vulnerabilities. But the stronger applicants are those who also demonstrate that they are willing to challenge themselves beyond what already feels familiar. They show curiosity about adjacent industries, different business models, new ways of solving problems, and leadership in contexts that stretch them. The point you will make in the essays is not answering to "Can this person contribute to mental health?" but rather "Can this person become a versatile business leader?"

So be careful about positioning yourself as someone who only wants to build a career in one area. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that being your long-term mission, but your short- and medium-term goals should probably leave room for broader learning. Think about hard skills that you can apply to healthcare strategy, digital health, payer-provider ecosystems, enterprise wellness, health-tech GTM, or even broader consumer health and healthcare consulting all build capabilities that make you better equipped to come back and solve at a much larger scale. It is ironic, but the applicants who convince the adcoms they will make the biggest impact in one domain are usually those who first convince them they are capable of thriving in many.

I strongly recommend that you understand what INSEAD and Wharton look for before applying. Otherwise, you may end up directing your valuable time and focus away from schools where you have a better chance. Target north of a 685 on the GMAT. I would actually advise against applying in Round 3. It may add unnecessary pressure, and if the outcome doesn't go your way, there won't be enough time before the next cycle to show substantial improvements. Feel free to have a one to one discussion.

Seemingly a very strong work profile if you talk smartly about your insights as a KAM, your understanding of platform businesses, the gig economy, FMCG and so many other relevant themes you could engage the adcom with.
It's just that 2 years of experience is on the lower side, so it could go either way. I have seen mentees get in with 2 years of work experience, usually when they had a strong analytical foundation and deep insight in their field of work, built through exposure to a variety of projects in a relatively short span (~2 yrs).
Try to aim for at least a 695. That's not unusual for very young candidates.

Feel free to have a one to one discussion.

Best wishes

I actually think your story is the strongest part of your profile. Staying in the mental health space because of both professional and personal motivation makes for a very authentic narrative, as long as you tell it thoughtfully.

For ISB, I'd try to push beyond 655 if you can. Your 10th and 12th scores aren't bad, but they're not going to give you much of a cushion either. I'd feel much better with a 685+.

For INSEAD, I'd also be aiming for 685+, while for Wharton, I'd honestly target 705+. The competition is just much tougher there, especially as an Indian applicant.

One thing I'd also say: don't make your application only about mental health. Show the business impact you've created, enterprise sales, scaling partnerships, growth, leadership. The personal story will make people remember you, but the business impact is what will convince the adcom you're ready for an MBA.

You've already got a nice profile for ISB. Healthcare consulting, strong 12th, dual degree, leadership, volunteering, and the first-generation story all come together well.

For your questions:
1. GMAT: I'd definitely give it one more shot if you think you can improve. 705 would put you in a very strong position for ISB. Even 685+ would be a meaningful improvement over 655.
2. Verbal: If you've been consistently around V80, don't just do more questions. Spend time understanding why you're getting them wrong.

Review every mistake, look for patterns (RC vs CR), and focus on accuracy before speed. A month or two is enough to see a decent jump if you practice deliberately.

Overall, I wouldn't be worried about your profile. At this point, the GMAT is probably the biggest lever you have to strengthen your application.

Thanks

Hi,
I recently took the GMAT and scored 635. I am planning to take another attempt before the ISB Round 1 deadline. My first question is whether you would recommend sending this score to ISB within the 48-hour reporting window, or waiting until my next attempt.

A brief overview of my profile:
• Chartered Accountant (cleared all levels in the first attempt), CS Executive, and B.Com.
• Over 8 years of work experience across Deloitte and Northern Arc Capital.
• Currently working at Northern Arc Capital. I started in the wholesale lending team and, over the past year, have been part of the venture debt team, focusing on funding high-growth startups.
• My role involves debt investments and structured financing across fintechs, NBFCs, climate finance, MSMEs, and other emerging sectors.
• Have deployed ₹3,400+ crore through direct lending, AIFs, and syndications, while contributing to transactions worth over ₹6,700 crore during my career.
• Previously worked in Financial Due Diligence at Deloitte, advising private equity funds, debt funds, and strategic investors on M&A transactions. Prior to that, I spent three years in Deloitte’s Audit practice.
• Recipient of performance awards at both Deloitte and Northern Arc Capital.
• Have been mentoring underprivileged students through the Lighthouse Project (NGO) since 2019.
I had also applied to ISB in 2022 with a GMAT Classic score of 660, but was not shortlisted.
Based on the above profile, I would appreciate your views on:
1. Whether I should report my current GMAT score of 635 to ISB.
2. My overall competitiveness for ISB.
3. The GMAT score you believe I should target to have a strong chance of admission.
4. Any major strengths or gaps in my profile that I should address before applying.
