Hey,

Hope you are doing well!

I was looking for applying for MBA (2024) in LBS and other European schools, I have a 710 gmat score and currently I have 2.5 years of Work experience in Deloitte(will be 3 years by the time I join) wanted to ask, if a less work experience as mine creates a problem during college placements? And also if waiting one more year to gain some extra work ex will make a considerable difference?

Thank you, appreciate any response if you get the time.

Hey. I'm gonna preface this by saying that I haven't as of yet received an invite so take my advice with a grain of salt AND that I applied for the MiF and not the MBA.

LBS does prefer that you have more experience but there are no hard and fast limits. I think you should focus less on the years and more on the quality of your experience and look at it from the perspective of what do you bring to the LBS class room that is unique. Then you also need to be able to effectively communicate that on the application, show evidence of international exposure and that you've researched the school etc.

I can't say whether another year would help your case, again it really depends on your trajectory. If you apply later with more significant projects/promotions under your belt, that could definitely help as well.

Also in case you are an Indian candidate, keep in mind you are from a very over-represented pool and that has its own challenges. The question you should be asking then is, from the pool of large indian candidates, does my experience stand out in any particular way? Also apply to more universities to improve your odds of securing a place.

Hi Anish,

I would not think so much from the perspective of the job placements as I would think about your fit in the LBS MBA class, which typically attracts applicants with a little more work experience (average experience is 5.5 years). So what I would ask instead is, do you have enough personal and professional experiences, achievements and maturity in your career and in life to be able to contribute to the LBS MBA program? Do also note, that LBS is very committed to admitting applicants who are sold on going to LBS. So you should also have done adequate research on the b-school before you submit your application. If you see yourself lacking on these fronts, it may be better to apply next year. Moreover, the application is long and will require considerable time.
An additional year's experience + profile building to fill any gaps will help you emerge as a stronger applicant for R1 application cycle next year.

Hi, maybe I am a bit late here, but would appreciate your opinion.

I was planning on applying to LBS (round 2), but have just received a GMAT score (710: Q49, V35, IR 6, AWA tbd).

So a quick overview of my profile:
- Job: Co-founded a fintech company a couple of years back. Before that, worked for 2 years at Microsoft as SDE
- Achievements: Successfully raised 3 funding rounds for our startup in the last 2 years. Have international work experience.
- GPA: 3.4 from Tier 1 college

Should I go ahead with my application? should I take 1-2 more weeks and retake the GMAT, considering that I would only have 20 days to complete the rest of the requirements to apply? Or would you recommend applying for 3rd round

Thanks for your advice
