I think whoever posted that has clarified that his admit was for a different program.

So what is our best guess to conversion from interview to admit? I believe MBA guru was in the 60% range...

well his data is exclusively from GMAT CLUB. Many applicants aren't really part of the forum, or don't update their stats and status.

I reckon its closer to 25-33%

That doesn't make any sense. Their admit rate is in that range... You're saying that they admit 25-33% of people that they interview? Only way that would be true is if they interviewed everybody.

well Mccombs class size is ~260, around 1800-2500 people apply every year. assume they invite 800-1000 people to interview 33% of that would then make the class size.

they probably admit more people, but i guess the admitted students may opt for another college so that could probably increase the ratio. But doubt its more than 1 in 2 interviewed candidates. anyway this is just a rough estimate.

Lost of other factors to consider. Indians will probably have an even lower ratio for conversation

Dude. The yield rate is exactly what you are not considering. If 2000 apply, 1000 interview, 500 admitted, 250 matriculate, you do the math. 25-33% of interviewees accepted is WAY low and makes absolutely 0 sense. Every school admits more students than they actually expect to attend. They factor in for historical yield rates. Even H/S/W does not have 100% yield. Cmon.

Fair enough, if McCombs cares about its rankings they would prefer a lower yield rate ,so i still doubt its more than 1 in 2 candidates ~50%?? . anyway we'll know pretty soon wont we :)

Mccombs is a perennially top 20 ranked program, so I doubt they're concerned. They'd also want a higher yield, not lower. Lower yield would probably suggest that people select Mccombs as a "safety" for top 10 or m7 programs. Either way, I'm sure the % of admitted students after interview is closer to 50%. That's the "norm". Schools like Kellogg that interview everybody will obviously have a much lower admission rate post interview.

Reading the old threads, it seems that R2 acceptance calls will probably start to go out in another week or two. Does not seem likely that anything will go out this week.

I submitted at the R2 deadline, got an interview invite shortly thereafter, and thought it went really well. I've also had a lot of correspondence with current students and the like. Generally I feel relatively optimistic that I will get in, but does anyone know how McCombs gives out scholarships? I really like the program and Austin, but as a non-Texas resident I'm not sure it's worth 140k, especially if you ultimately end up leaving the state of Texas post-grad. Any thoughts/insights on this?

In order to answer your question, you have to look at how long does it take on average to repay student loan?
So for example:
1. Total tuition cost is 140k
2. Average scholarship is 13.5k a year, which means in total 27k. https://poetsandquants.com/2014/11/20/mb ... schools/2/
3. Cost of living in Texas with moderate spending is around 2-2.5k a month in Texas.
4. Average income post-grad is 100k, after tax is around 70k.
So 140k-27k=113k total student debt
2.5*12=30k a year cost of living
70k-30k=40k you can apply towards repaying your loan. Which means 113/40=2.8 or almost 3 years to repay your debt.
So in order to answer your question whether the program is worth it take into account non-money value:
1. if 3 years working just to repay your debt is worth your dream career or dream job?
2. Knowledge gain
3. Future network possibilities

Great answer, I just want to add that $140K is pretty much par on course with other Top 20 programs, so it's not like it's especially expensive, it's more like Texans get a superb deal...I recently had to choose between McCombs (no aid) and another program ranked in the 25's with 40K fellowship...I ended choosing McCombs because I am international and feel that my chances of landing a great job are much better in Texas, I have friends in Austin and I'm very much into entrepreneurship.

I like your approach toward the numbers.
It's good to keep in mind that reported avg salary + bonus this year was $132k, if you consider "other compensations" it goes to $146k. So, I reckon $70k/year after tax is possible, but pessimistic.
