Hey everyone,

I haven't been asked for an interview. At this point is it safe to say that I shouldn't expect one? Any input would be great. I applied R2 evening program.

Thanks

They mentioned that they will be sending interview invites up to the decision date, so it is likely you could get an invite as late as March 19.

The R1 deposit deadline is the 15th, so I bet there will be a little more activity beginning next week as some admits turn down their offers of admission.

I'm still waiting for my invites too. I specified on my app that I was gonna retake the gmat. Could that had caused the delay?

So I had my interview in Delhi today and it went kinda terrible.

I was given a lot of curveballs. This is how it went :-

1) Interview Walkthrough (went fine)

2) So you have 2 companies, how do u delegate your time between the two? How is it possible for you to handle two companies? (this is where i start going nervous and sweaty)

3)Why mba? What do u want to do immediately after mba? (went okayish)

4) Now she started asking me all sorts of questions that are limited to my industry, none of the questions were standard. I kinda started stammering, trembling, and sweating. Has this happened to any of you?

5) After the interview she talked for a bit and then she said 'I have an exercise for you. On my computer you will read a job advertisement and write a cover letter for job application.' I had never done this sort of thing before, but i tried my best, it turned out ok i guess. Wonder how no one ever mentioned this exercise in the forums.

Now my interview report is over, I ask you experts, what can I write in the thank you note apart from the standard stuff that may reach out to her, as in that may make her realize, I got kinda nervous under pressure, and I am not usually like that? Or should i just send a standard letter?

I think you ought to just write expressing thanks for the opportunity to interview, and reaffirm you interest in the program, bringing up 1-3 notes that were touched upon in your interview. Example, "as I stated when we met, I am really interesting in X and Georgetown because of how it caters to my Y." Or something along those lines.

That cover letter exercise you got sounds really challenging and unique. But maybe it is a good sign that she liked you and wanted to push you even further. Who was your interviewer?

From what I've heard people in China are getting very different interview questions from the ones mentioned here. Just a reminder that we shouldn't limit our prep to the topics from a particular source, and keep ourselves updated in terms to our current and target industries.

Well, my interviewer was michelle corr. it was her last day in india so likely indians wont face her anymore.

I should clear up one thing though, michelle herself was extremely supportive, friendly and encouraging. the curveballs she there were not intentional but only logical follow ups. I think it was my own lack of confidence that got me

I had my interview with Michelle as well. Pretty standard interview. Walk through the resume, leadership experience, cultural diversity faced, post MBA goals.

I wonder why such discrepancy in type of questions asked.

Also, I had my interview on 11th Feb and completely missed to send a thank you note. Is it too late to mail one now ??

Any activity lately, or are we all just waiting? How are interviews going? Any new invites?

The R1 deposit deadline passed over the weekend and I noticed that few admits are actually choosing to matriculate at McDonough, at least among the forum's sample.

I'm guessing people just haven't updated their status yet! (I actually don't know if my status is updated or not... **update: yes it was!).

Yes, your status shows that you are matriculating! Congrats on the decision! Are you completely sold? Every school sings the song of "fit." Did you not try to get off the WL at Tuck?

Thanks, yes I am! The Welcome Weekend convinced me -- I've taken myself off of the Tuck WL -- the ethos at Tuck is similar to McDonough (collaborative, giving back to the community, etc.), but the international focus, access to government/non-profits in DC, and location for living (and social outlets, etc.) made the difference.

Awesome! McDonough is making some serious waves, and clearly it's helping to attract top talent like yourself. Best of luck with your studies! I chose to apply for all the same reasons you listed, plus a few others. The wait is killing me. What kinds of activities were there at the welcome event?

Thanks! Good luck to you, too! The Welcome Weekend was two full days -- everything from an (excellent) model class to panels about classwork, career advising, housing, etc., with current students, faculty, alumni. They did a very nice job!

If that's the case, that might be better for folks like myself who applied in R2. They may decide to admit more.
