Former gmatclub user, wanted to post an interesting MBA ranking done by Linkedin (cited by P&Q). I've come on this board in the past to chime in on MSB success in the IB world. While this ranking (like all) must be taken with a grain of salt, great to see Georgetown ranked #3 in Investment Bankings and top 15 in overall Finance placement. Thought many of you would be interested in the results assuming you haven't stumbled upon this yet.

Hello,

Even I received an interview invite. the mail appeared in promotions tab in gmail.
But my recommenders are yet to submit recommendations. Is it normal for MSB to send interview invitations before recommendations get submitted.

Also, I would love to know any/all stories related to interviews. It will really really help me, as studying an MSB will be a dream come true for me!

Cheers!!
DebWenger

Same Situation here!! Was a pleasant surprise!! My recommender submitted his recommendation today - Yet I got the interview invite 3 days ago. Is this normal?

My friend who went to MSB last year says they do it anonymously. So you won't even know / feel that they're checking.

I did. I didn't have to negotiate. I just asked. I have until May 10th.

I am an R1 applicant to the full-time program. I got waitlisted after an interview. After R2 decision, I again got waitlisted. I submitted an updates essay after R1 decision and an update email after R2, wherein I re-iterated my keen interest in the MSB in addition to giving some key personal/professional updates. Can somebody please tell me what more I could do to improve my chances? Does anybody know of instances when an R1 applicant got admitted in R2 this year or any of the later rounds last year? I am really want to convert this!

Hi tallgirl, I too was waitlisted R1 (without interview), had my interview during the R2 interview cycle (albeit literally 6 days before decisions were released), and was admitted R2. I did exactly what you did: supplemental essay after R1, reiterated my interest in the program, told them it was my first choice, etc. etc. so I think you've done all the right things! I'm obviously not an expert, but I believe McDonough definitely wants to admit people who will matriculate, so anything you can do to show you're committed will no doubt help. Good luck! :)

Pretty cool for any of those interested in venture capital or entrepreneurship at MSB. Georgetown MBA's won this year's global VCIC competition.

So I had my interview in Delhi today and it went kinda terrible.

I was given a lot of curveballs. This is how it went :-

1) Interview Walkthrough (went fine)

2) So you have 2 companies, how do u delegate your time between the two? How is it possible for you to handle two companies? (this is where i start going nervous and sweaty)

3)Why mba? What do u want to do immediately after mba? (went okayish)

4) Now she started asking me all sorts of questions that are limited to my industry, none of the questions were standard. I kinda started stammering, trembling, and sweating. Has this happened to any of you?

5) After the interview she talked for a bit and then she said 'I have an exercise for you. On my computer you will read a job advertisement and write a cover letter for job application.' I had never done this sort of thing before, but i tried my best, it turned out ok i guess. Wonder how no one ever mentioned this exercise in the forums.

Now my interview report is over, I ask you experts, what can I write in the thank you note apart from the standard stuff that may reach out to her, as in that may make her realize, I got kinda nervous under pressure, and I am not usually like that? Or should i just send a standard letter?

I think you ought to just write expressing thanks for the opportunity to interview, and reaffirm you interest in the program, bringing up 1-3 notes that were touched upon in your interview. Example, "as I stated when we met, I am really interesting in X and Georgetown because of how it caters to my Y." Or something along those lines.

I had my interview last night.it was with a first year student .
Can someone please let me know what to write in the thank you note to the interviewer. She mentioned that I could get in touch with her in case I had any queries. She did not mention her mail id but the id for Gergetown admissions. And asked me to send any mails with the header her name-mentioned in the subject line. She did not give me the exact email id for Admissions.
I was thinking of replying to the Interview invite and include her name in the subject. But i think the email id for interviews is different from the one that sent me the application submission confirmation. So, not sure to which id i need to send the mail to.if anyone who has been through this could provide me the required mail id it'd be great.

Thanks!

isnt the McDonough waitlist decision atleast a bit misleading. Waitlist makes everyone believe that the school does see something in them..but the fact is that McDonough doesnt reject anyone..even if they decide that they dont want a round 1 candidate, he/she has no way to know.

It's still my top choice though :-D
