I have received an admit without scholarship from mcdonough, but i’m in a bit dilemma what should i choose- mcdonough( no scholarship ) or WashU Olin ( 80K ). Any help will be good. Thanks.
I just checked US News so I'm basing this off of their information:
McDonough without scholarship is approximately $125k tuition for full program.
Olin is about $50k tuition for full program after your $80k scholarship.
Not accounting for cost of living, it's a $75k difference.
However:
Avg base salary for McDonough grad is $138k
Avg base salary for Olin grad is $117k
So using Avg, it will take approximately 4 years of post grad work for the cost/benefit to be equal.
I assume your career will be much longer than 4 years so consider the cost benefit over the long run if you can!
Just my two cents. I didn't even receive an interview at McDonough but they are a top 25 school and Olin is a top 50. Plus Alumni network at McDonough is larger which is very important. Continue to weigh these facts in line with the idea that there may be one school that is a better fit for your goals and that should be considered above all else!
