The new US News rankings got out today and as expected, Rice plunged down by 4 points sharing the spot with the University of Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech! Do you guys see a reason to this fall?

CrackuM7 Sure. If you check the FT rankings which came out late January this year, Rice is one of the schools that reported a huge drop in rankings along with University of Minnesota, Boston University and Boston College (Image attached)

So, I assumed that there will be a drop on US News rankings as well. However, I am still looking for why Rice?

Valid co-relation. However, on comparing rankings, Bloomberg 2016 rankings (comes out in Mid-November), there was a substantial jump in RICE rankings.

All these ranking systems are different and with different metrics, they just play around with us (candidates)

Thus the root question still stands, why this dip???

True! I totally agree with you CrackuM7 Their metrics are different and we get played around that. However, I personally pick on US News if I have to catch up on U.S. based school rankings. I think reaching out to the current student at Rice and the adcom will be in our best interest.

Remember to take all these rankings with a pinch of salt.

More waves of decisions will be coming out between now and the official decision date. Don't lose hope!

I honestly doubt it. I think the rest will come out closer to the decision date. Last week was Spring Break for a lot of Houston area schools so a lot of our staff were out on vacation with their kids.
