Applying in Round 1 won't put you in a bad position. Most of the spots in the program and scholarships will still be available.
With that said, applying in the Early Action Round certainly offers some advantage.
First, it signals that you are absolutely certain about attending Rotman. From a bschool's perspective, it will improve the yield rate for the program (win win situation for someone who wants to attend only this program and the school).
Second, you get first dibs on all the spots and scholarships available during this admission cycle. If admitted you will be among the first ones to be considered for financial aid. There's only a limited amount that is available, and this amount goes down at the end of each round.
Third, in a recent online interview the admissions team member from Rotman said it offers you a slightly better chance of admission if you come from an overrepresented group, or if you have a weakness in your profile (low GPA, low GMAT etc).
However, applying in Early Action Round only gives you these advantages if you are able to submit a strong application. Poorly written essays to meet the application deadline for Early Action Round can do more harm than good.

Hi All,
Early Round vs R1. Applying early is undeniably better, but, would an R1 application stripe off any advantages? especially when it comes to scholarship opportunities. Also, any idea how much time does the school allow a candidate to make a decision if he/ she has been offered admission?
Thanks
