Hi I have got an admit for Oxford and HKUST. I'm leaning towards HKUST mainly because of the FT rankings, better post mba job prospects and 16 months duration. However, Oxford will have a more diverse student body and the Oxford name is huge in India. Any advice?

FT ranking should be your last criteria.
HKUST is a good school. However, what is the guarantee that by the time you graduate, Oxford will not be ranked higher than HKUST?

Few years back, Oxford used to get higher ranks than Cambridge, but Cambridge has progressed a lot in the ladder. Many in this forum (those who have got an offer) believe that Cambridge is a better program than Oxford without evaluating all the different aspects of the program and how it can help them in achieving their career goals.

Rankings are all about numbers. Without considering that as your main criteria, look for other important parameters, which again can be different for different individuals!

Please do not base your decision solely on rankings. You're indeed correct to take a school's position into consideration but it should not, by any means, be the distinguishing factor. Instead, look at a number of aspects, including the following:

- Does your target employer(s) hire from the school?
- Where do you want to work?
- How strong is the alumni network and services?
- Reputation of the school (brand awareness, international presence, etc...)

Tomorrow is the deadline for the interview decision Stage 5. Has anyone already recevied an interview invitation?

Does anyone know if Oxford sends decision emails, even if it is a ding?

I spoke with someone this morning at the school, and she said that they'll be sending out emails tomorrow from around noon to when they close (I guess 5pm) UK time.

Invited to interview! Very excited!

It is practically impossible for me to travel to Oxford on such short notice. However, I think I could make it for an in person interview in New York. Considering that it is an off-campus interview, does anyone believe that interviewing in New York would represent an important advantage, in terms of chances of getting admitted, compared to interviewing via Skype?

Congrats alexisporben! Same here. I don't think I can make it to Oxford for the June 3rd interviews. I'll most likely be going to NY. I think interviewing in NY should be fine since it's an in-person interview. I got the feeling that they prefer in-person interviews to skype. I'm not sure if it'll have any significant effect on your chances of getting admitted.

Congrats Atisha357.

See this link - https://gmatclub.com/forum/oxford-mba-2016-17-specific-interview-tips-212971.html. Nicely and comprehensively explained by one from our class.

Also there is some advice in the below page of this thread. Please search other pages as well. You may find some more.
