Hi All -

Question for everyone that's targeting R1 or have gone through the GSB process before. Is 2 weeks sufficient to aim for a good GSB app? I think the bulk of the time will be spent on the essay... most of the other sections overlap enough with other applications that those should be very straightforward.

Appreciate any thoughts!

Hi. 2 weeks may be appropriate to write the essays (there are two of them), but I have two questions.

1. Do you have any experience in writing essays for other schools? That should probably make it a faster process.

2. How much time are you going to spend in writing essays?

I think 3 drafts with some significant back and forth should be ideal.

Thanks! That's encouraging - yes, I just completed "the other" app so should have more time to focus on GSB for the next two weeks.

haha all the best. The other school probably offered you similar material to write about. BTW, care to share some profile details?

Hi guys,

In for Round 1. Do you know how much emphasis GSB makes on quant score? Mine is just 46, so I am a bit worried.

Very detailed work... Great

Thank you! Suggestions from users help us figure out what matters most to applicants and adjust our analysis methods accordingly, so I would love to get your detailed opinion and suggestions, if any, on the survey.

Thank you for this. Could you also show for eastern europe? or non-eu?

Marie
46 would put you in the danger zone I think. What's your overall score?

No, unless you want to turn in a crappy essay. It takes roughly 2 weeks per essay, and at least a dozen drafts each.

Thanks for the feedback - Essay 2 seems a lot more straightforward. Do people agree? I've seen some examples - obviously they need to be thoughtful and relevant, but a lot of the content ultimately turns into what classes / organizations / community involvement people will want to get involved with at Stanford. Based on what I've read, the meat and bones is really on Essay 1

I agree with you. However, I would definitely use essay 2 as a differentiator. I have somehow tried to flow into essay 2 from 1.

Hey wonderful people,

For those who applied for the Indian Reliance Fellowship or the Africa Fellowship, how much would you lift from your fellowship essay to the "what matters most" or "why Stanford" essays? Assuming you'd want to expand on the themes explored in the fellowship essay, would you go as far as copying sentences? Would the adcom frown upon this?

Thanks

I would not recommend lifting actual sentences from the essays in the main application, but make sure to be consistent with your goals for business school and Stanford.
