So, if they are reported on the day they are received, it appears that a lot of them go out on the 29th day, which in this case is the 14th - i.e. the last day. Seems like we are down to the wire here...

No, it's a jump on the Mondays - they probably review over the weekend and send out a batch on the Monday.

If you take a look at the (less complete) GMAT Club decision tracker - it also confirms the trend on LiveWire - that there will be an uptick of invites over the next three weekdays.

Of course, this assumes that nothing has changed between 2016 and 2017.

2016 47 interviews from 347 R1 applicants
2017 (currently) 11 interviews from 246 R1 applicants

Assuming we see the same GMAT Club applicant-to-interview yield as 2016 (~13%), this year we should expect to see ~33 reported interviews vs the 11 we have now.

Are we looking at the same data? Other than the last Monday, which is right before the deadline, they typically go out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Nice analysis. But I think it will be more accurate if we take number of applications submitted vs interview invites.

In this case 31% was invited last year in R1 (47 invites, 154 applications submitted), and this year we should expect 42 invites (since 136 applications were reported as submitted for R1 so far) - of course, assuming nothing has changed from last year.

In either case, I don't expect so many invites:) it's been really slow this year

My mistake, I've just seen inflow beginning of weeks be higher than end of week. Seems there is roughly equal inflow Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday based on last year, but higher on Mondays this year.

See below for cumulative by weekday.

Hope so!

Just checked the HBS thread though, and it's pretty low on the reports there as well.

HBS thread on GMAT Club:
2017 -> 367 applicants in R1 -> 39 invites = ~11%
2016 -> 517 applicants in R1 -> 104 invites = ~20%

So the GSB reports on GMAT Club are then in line with the HBS reports, indicating that it's more likely that GMAT Club has seen a decline in users/ activity than that GSB invites are lagging and a ton will come out early next week...

Lets wait and see!

on the contrary. GMAT Club has seen an increase in the number of users, including the number of people online at the same time.
Can it be that people got scared of Trump, and therefore decided not to apply to for ex. GSB?

Had my interview last Wednesday with an alumni. She got into the questions right away after a 10-second introduction, and I am really not sure how it went. She is a C-level exec and it was evident she was very distanced and detached. In total the interview was around 45 minutes. I sent a thank you note the same evening and didn't get a reply. Anyone else with interview experiences so far?

Hi there -

First and foremost, congrats on this huge accomplishment -- getting a GSB interview invite is an achievement in and of itself.

I know it's tough, but try not to worry about your interview. Many interviewers across all MBA programs choose to not repond to thank-you notes because they don't want to give applicants false hope.
Especially when it's an alum who doesn't ultimately make the final decision.

I had a client a few years ago who had a stellar interview at GSB -- it went on for like 1.5 hours and her interviewer loved her and told her she would give her a glowing recommendation based on their chat. Ultimately this client didn't get in that year. She worked with me to reapply again the next year and called me sobbing after her interview, saying that her alum was short and uninterested and that it had been totally awkward and horrible and she wanted to call the adcom about it because she was positive she wasn't going to get in now. I told her to NOT do that and to just see what happens because the interview truly is not a make or break thing -- it's just another data point for the adcom. She DID get in that year, which proves this point.

So if they want you, they want you. While your interviewer may have had a poker face, that doesn't mean she's going to say anything negative about you... and even if she did, I'm not so sure that would sway the adcom if they were sold on you in the first place -- they know that alum interviews are all different, and they may even know that specific alum is particularly tough.

I hope that helps put your mind at rest. Best of luck and please let us know how it turns out!

I've heard that Stanford puts less weight on their interviews than places like HBS and MIT Sloan since there's so much variation based on the alum you are matched with.

Mine was a bit odd in that it felt more like a networking coffee than an interview. My interviewer's background was in the same functional role and industry, and we spent about 40% of the time on 4 variations of a behavioral question on conflict resolution and 60% on my questions about the GSB. The interview probably lasted 40-45 minutes, and it was very cordial and conversational. I think it went well, but I was really expecting more questions about myself. I sent a thank you note and did not receive a reply either.

That is interesting, the the Trump-effect should only skew the application #, not the % receiving an interview invite though?

As for GMAT Club, might have been that number of users are increasing, but the users are less prone to report, and that the user-base has become less high quality, given the lower interview percentages?
