I do not think so that the decision is based on the GMAT and GPA.
Although I have a GMAT of 760, but my GPA sucks. 72/100

I hope an I think this is the real deal as it specifically says invitation to interview.
Else everyone would have got it.

Also, the mail says this "Please note that in order to be considered for admission to the Tepper MBA program, you are required to complete an interview"
I don't think they would make an information session mandatory.

Did the application status change for any one?
Mine is still showing application submitted.

Are the emails coming in batches? Or did they just come together and you all posted it at different times? So should I consider myself rejected since I didn't get the invite yet? Really hurts having 2 rejects in one day. :'(

Not receiving an invite does not mean a ding.

Tepper will send more interview invites later. I don't remember if Fuqua will send more this round, but they can still waitlist you without an interview and you may receive an interview invite in the following rounds.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Also, if it's possible, could you tell me if what's the basis of differentiation between waves of invites? Is it random, or do first wave people have advantage?

it looks like the first wave is based on gmat and gpa. not sure how they could review the applications so quickly.

Yeah, I don't think it was based on GMAT and GPA alone because there are plenty of applicants here who have higher stats than I do. However, I would be surprised if they had time to look through my entire application in two days along with others.

I have a feeling there was some sort of trigger along the way, but I'm not quite sure what it was. I've had more interaction with James Frick than with any admissions committee member at other schools. I gave him a resume in person, which I hope they considered. I still worry that some of my "blemishes" will hinder my chances of getting in.

I'm also originally from Pennsylvania and lived in Pittsburgh for a while, but doubt that had much to do with it either.

In my opinion, at this point of time, they probably think more about who is really willing to attend if accepted. I think that's a strategy to maintain or increase the yield. Early interview notification avoids your interview conflict with other schools. I think Tepper is operating pretty smart. Forgive me, I am from an industry where the Lean idea is important.
It may have less to do with GMAT or GPA or any single parameter.

It could be an index combing the Test score, Work months, and Age. C'mon, we are talking about the best Computer Engineering school, it's easy for them to come out such a program and select the first batch without even physically reading any applications.

Just curious, how many of you guys who got an invite were waived for app fee? If majority, that could better support my guess.

I'm from the US and got an invite. I also got the fee waiver about a month after I took the GMAT.

Just heard from the Adcom member I am in touch with regarding interviews:

Quote:
Interview invitations are sent out on a rolling basis. It really just depends on where in the cue (sic) your application falls for the first review. Interview invitations can be sent out until the very end of the round, within a week of the decision notification date so if you haven’t heard anything until November, there is still a possibility you would be interviewed.

Hope this helps calming some nerves for a few of us who are in the not invited boat :) razordude1717 - may want to take off your Tepper ding :D

I will interview next Friday.
fyi... I received a fee waiver and got invited on the 1st wave.
I do not think they have decided to give interview invitations based on gmat and GPA. My gmat is 650...
