18 people have received interview invitations and no one got dinged yet (at least that's what the stats tell me)!!! Good job and good luck to the people who are still waiting! Hopefully you hear back soon!

Tepper is ridiculously quick....deadline last Monday, and already started sending out invites yesterday.

Hey Charu,

I would suggest you to interview with the the same person that you met at the MBA fair.
If nothing else, it would boost your confidence as you have already talked to her. Moreover, you can discuss about the fair and get comfortable in the interview.
And if you were able to impress her in the fair, then it would be an added advantage.

All the best!

Yes Tepper is quick, but last year they were even quicker. The first wave of invites came just after 3 days :)
No one would be dinged at this point of time. They should send more interview invites.
Moreover, the final decisions for all come on the 15th of December

I went back to the thread last year to do some digging, and it seemed that in round 1, 37% of the applicants here were invited to interview - and remember, always think of this as below the real number because some people just never bothered to update their status.

Among those at least invited to interview, about 65% of them were admitted.....extremely high in my opinion. Good luck everyone!

On a side note, Tepper seems to be less generous than many other schools in terms of giving out scholarships.

Schedule interview with a person with whom you are most comfortable with. If you have a previous connection, go to that person because you guys know each other.

The interviews for Tepper is a sanity check. Normally the interviews are not grueling.

Other schools such as Ross has 67% convert if you have an interview call so these are expected numbers.

Scholarships:
1) Almost all the girls from India (not indian american) got scholarship because of generous Forte Foundations
2) Not that lucky for guys from India.

I think right now you guys should worry about the admit than the scholarship.

All the best for Interviews.

I was hoping someone could lend some insight into how candidates are chosen for interviews?

I would imagine that a candidate's application package would be reviewed in its entirety by the admissions committee and then that student would be invited for an interview if the rest of their credentials, including subjectives like essays and quality of WE, were worthy of admittance. If the applicant performed well enough on the interview they would be offered admission.

Because Tepper sent out invites so quickly I'm inclined to assume that they do it differently. It seems to me that applicants with quantifiable stats below a certain threshold are denied and the rest are invited for an interview. Then they take the group that has performed well on their interview and go through their application package with more scrutiny and make admit decisions from there.

Obviously these are my assumptions since I have no experience within the Tepper admissions system. If someone has more information I'd appreciate hearing what you have to say.

I have heard similar things but don't know for sure. Last year the interview invite was dispatched in 3 days. So I don't think they read the application before sending invites. Probably GMAT and location + gender diversity becomes the deciding factor. Again these are just speculations. Don't know for sure how they send invites.

That just means they've reviewed your application and have confirmed all of the pieces were submitted. Good luck, hope you get an interview too!

Some of standard questions which you may encounter:
1) Tell me about yourself
2) Why MBA
3) Why Tepper
4) Walk through your resume

Rest will be behavioral questions about leadership and experience.

Let me know if you have further queries.
