I am debating if I even want to go onto the waitlist. It seems like the vast majority of applicants are getting waitlisted, which if that’s the case it’s a bit sketchy. Instead of denying candidates that aren’t a great fit, it seems like they’re stringing along candidates whose first choice is Tepper.

It’s making me think twice about the processes at the school. Depending on how next week goes with similarly ranked schools releasing their decisions, that’ll determine how I navigate the waitlist. I can’t afford to not plan things out, and I’m not going into significant debt to go to Tepper.

Anyone from West Africa/East Africa that has received the call of acceptance? My application status still reads "Complete and Sent to Committee for Review" after completing my interview last month.

To the international applicants. . . are you all even going to consider waitlists given the visa timelines needed?

As a US student I am having a hard time justifying going on the waitlist? Seeing everyone being waitlisted doesn’t sit right with me from an AdCom perspective it seems shady. I would love to go to Tepper but the waitlist gives no time to prepare for a big move.

Tepper although a great school has a very low yield. May be because of low scholarships that they award or candidates prefering other T15 school over Tepper. That is the reason I believe is for the school to waitlist the majority. The adcom is not confident enough that the admits will choose Tepper over $$$$ or T15

This is potentially why they have such a low yield. Had I been accepted, my deposit would’ve been paid by the EOD.

But now they’ve given other schools the opportunity to poach me. If a Cornell or Booth accepts me, I’ll be going there despite CMU being my top choice.

I can’t sit back and potentially miss deadlines for other schools *all of which are higher rated* for Tepper.
