I interviewed on 25th of October with a second year student. It was perhaps the toughest interview I had yet. Almost all questions are personalized. For example, instead of asking "tell me about an challenging team experience" he would ask specifically "tell me about the the challenge you faced during project XXX", and several times he asked my motivation behind not just the jobs I chose but also the projects I did.

So just know your story/resume really well and be prepared to think on your feet

is it a bad sign to not hear back from the interviewer on the thank you note or a linkedin request?? Or am i just reading too much into it? Any insights?
Tuck interviewer is the only one I didn’t hear back from my thank you note. Trying not to think too much about it

I also advise against adding your interviewer on LinkedIn. Would like to hear people’s thoughts on this. Just feel like this might look unprofessional

Why do you feel / think this might look unprofessional? It seems like a normal thing to do, especially in case you had a good conversation and want to maintain contact with someone

It might look like you’re trying to make it hard for them to write a negative report?

Not that they would necessarily

Applying this logic, should not a nice "thank you" note make writing a negative report even harder?

I do not think that it is usually the purpose of both actions, thank you email and LinkedIn connection, to make writing a negative report harder--it is just a polite and nice gesture of appreciation. Of course, there is a "reciprocity" principal in social psychology, according to which if we behave nicely then the other side might also feel obliged to behave nicely, but surely during the training interviewers are taught how to be objective in their reviews.

An AdCom member was asked a similar question in one of the sessions last week and she mentioned that she does look at previous application as well but the major focus is on understanding that current application and the re-applicant essay. But I think if you’d like more details it would be good to attend an event with AdCom and then asking your specific query to them.

What is the real benefit to applying by guaranteed deadline? Is it just a guaranteed interview and then the application is treated equally? Or do you get "bonus" for showing interest by applying early?

samsung1234, It is better to apply whenever you feel that your application is the strongest. If you’d only submit a sub par application by the guaranteed interview deadline, then it is better to wait and submit your application at a later stage! :)

I personally felt that I could not put together a decent application by Tuck’s September 1 Deadline, so I applied on September 27th- their R1 deadline.
