Creating this thread for Vanderbilt-wannabees to hang out and network with other applicants. Use this platform to know each-other, build network, exchange ideas/information, discuss application strategies, share interview /school visit experiences, and boost one-another's morale to face the tough admission process. Lets do this. Owen 2019!
Hi, I need suggestions from current Owen students and alumni who are working in the healthcare. I have been admitted to Owen and have career goals related to medical devices. I came across two amazing institutes at Vanderbilt, namely- Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization and Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering. The idea of working with latest medical technology excites me and I am trying to find out if it is possible to be a part of projects in the above mentioned institutes. I contacted admissions office and they asked me to directly contact the institutes. I am in the process of doing so, but any suggestion and insight will greatly help me achieve the task.
PS- I am a Laparoscopic/Robotic trained General Surgeon who is targeting healthcare innovation companies.
Thank You.

Have you given the interview? I submitted my app on 8th. I was wondering if any Indian got an invite after that.

I did not wait until the last day of the deadline. I submitted somewhere in 1st week of Dec and got the invite after 2 weeks. So, probably you may need to wait!!!
My interview is in last week of Jan. They are travelling to India and so it's an in-person interview.
Any change a decision is released to you before the deadline if you interviewed early in the game? (I interviewed during the open period before even submitting my application). Or do they wait till the March deadline date?

I got my admit call about a month prior to the official decision release date. I know a few others did as well, but I don't know how common that is.

Great. Thanks for the input. I assume you applied R1?

I applied 2 years ago prior to the January deadline. Received my admit call in Feb.
