Any hope for more R1 invites?
Looks tough. Last interview update was on Nov 14. It’s hard to imagine them sending out invites just 2 weeks before the deadline.
It does seem completely unreasonable but someone reported that they received Stern's interview invite yesterday and Stern's deadline is 1 week from now. I guess you just never know with this black box....

(Yes I'm smoking copium)

I didn't get the waiver but Yale offers reduced application fee based on your income level though

You can get a waiver if you can get an MBA referral from a YALE SOM student or alumni.

Why doesn't SOM (or any school) reject applicants who haven't received an interview invite by now? What reason is there to still have our application be "under review?"

Maybe your profile is on the verge of waitlist/ding. But I wish they have a designated interview decision date like HBS. But the wait is almost over. We've been waiting for this long, we can definitely wait for a couple of days.

Hi,
I have a question to all the successful applicants.
I am trying to align my profile based on my post MBA goals and also to increase my chances of getting into Bschools.

I have a career gap of 8 months and now that I have two offers, I want to know which way to go.

My post MBA goal is to join MBB and to become a Consultant. (Preferably Strategy)

1st offer - Social Consultant (ESG), with a new Indian business services firm. This role is attractive because the firm is a start up and expanding faster internationally. Also, being a consultant will help me post MBA.

2nd offer - Program Manager with an international organisation. This role is attractive because it will give me opportunity to work in Asia and MENA. (Also might be a leadership role).

I understand this is not the right question to ask in this platform, but I want some insights.

Further info -
Current GMAT score -690, Target - 730+.

Regards,

Regards,

Hey DD, although I'm not yet a successful applicant, (we will know whether in a week or so), I hope you can find my two cent's somewhat of help.
First, those two offers both sound amazing, though I am leaning towards the second one, mainly because of the stronger international brand and your potential leadership role. You don't need to be a consultant pre-mba to become one after. I forgot the source, but 80% of consultants come from non-consultant background at MBB. And maybe you should open to other consulting companies as well because hiring has been stagnant for the last two years. You can look up the school's employment report on gmatclub to see more details.
Second, what schools are you targeting? what's your undergrad/grad gpa. And how was your work experience like before the employment gap. Bschool applications will ask you to explain the gap. Darden sounds like a solid choice as it sends about half to consulting. Tuck is solid too.

Just wanna share my thought on this, though I am yet a successful applicant (don’t know yet)

I don’t know your experience and the companies you got offered. However, keep in mind that Bschools want candidates who can raise their popularity/ prestige status in the future, so they look for people who present the best potential of being successful after MBA. Moreover, they want quality over quantity, it’s the quality of your experiences and your leaning/mature from them that speak up. Therefore, go with the role you think you can learn and mature the most with.

Don’t worry about consulting experience, consulting recruitment is well-structured for MBA students, and you don’t need prior experience in consulting.

My advice is to go with the role you feel that would be most rewarding in term of experience gain. What you do before an MBA is to accumulate for the future, so challenge yourself and learn from it.
