Putting in my two cents...
Hourly services never (and I mean never) are a good way to *begin* your application processes. The strongest applications are not strong merely because of the stellar nature of their individual components (viz. Resume/ Career Goals/ LORs/ Essays etc), but also because the entire application speaks a unified theme. In other words, your resume may individually stand out for your super achievements (Most Indian Engineers turned consultants fall in that bracket), as may your story. Unless they form a unifying theme together however, and present you in one compelling package, schools may be confused as to which is the real you...
And that unifying theme, I find very unlikely to come through in limited time sessions
Hey, appreciate your perspective and I agree, a cohesive application matters. But in a landscape where everything is marketed as “premium” and outcomes are uncertain, students have to be conscious and deliberate in how they engage with services esp. with so many scammy stories floating in. Starting small through hourly support isn’t hesitation but a smart calibration.
A strong MBA consultant brings value regardless of package size. If impact only shows up in a comprehensive deal, that’s not quality it’s questionable. Reminding me of those trainer at gym: only after you enroll for a personal trainer session you would come in your desired shape. I’ve personally seen thoughtful consultants offer incredible clarity in just an hour without fear-based tactics, just genuine help for those who either can’t or don’t want to commit to full packages.
At the end of the day, there’s no single formula. I speak from the lens of a student/ client, trying to make informed calls in a high-stakes process. You speak from the lens of a service provider and we see that. Just hoping there’s space for both views.
