I was admitted to a program in January 2020 Intake.
I choose Analyst track over AI, though during 1 Term you can switch between the tracks, so if you not sure what to choose there is some flexibility to try things out first before the final decision.
My GMAT was 650, an average is 640, for such high ranking program ( 1 Asia, 11 World (2019), 14 World (2020)) you can argue that barrier is quite low.
I'm a foreign student, but SMU alumni as well, and for my admission, I had strong referrals from Singapore Academia and Business hence got accepted pretty easy and I doubt my experience in admission process would be a help for an average foreign student.
But what I would strongly recommend if you like me had zero experience in coding, do some Data Science Specialization which will get you through Python or R, math and machine learning before or during applying to a program. That will help you first understand either or not its right thing to you to pursue a career in the field of Data Science and second will give merit to your application.
The curriculum of a program is flexible, you should decide in advance what you want to specialize at, NLP, Computer Vision, E-Commerce, Payment Systems, etc. What I expect to get out of the program is a hands-on experience from industry practitioners, a lot of project work and exposure to the industry, which ultimately will lead to placement in Singapore based company as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer.
