If self study is difficult, form a study group with your friends/coworkers. It should keep everyone focused and aligned to one's goals. Members can bounce ideas and strategies.

Hope this helps.

Are you sure online streaming tutorials won't for you?

You mentioned you only do well with on-site classes -- which is what you already did earlier. Are you sure you want to repeat the same thing? If that's the case, then simply re-enroll in the same class you previously took.

We do encourage you to see whether a video such as this one is helpful to you: https://www.gmatpill.com/sentencecorrect ... ythons.mp4

or for math:

Hi,

I joined this forum recently and really enjoyed reading threads here. Appreciate all the members of the forum for being so helpful.

I have been planning to take GMAT since forever. I attended Manhattan onsite class in 2015, but could not pursue the exam due to personal reasons.

I am very bad in verbal and wanted to increase my score. I guess I am not motivated enough to go through a self-study plan, and crack the exam. I am more motivated in a classroom setup or in study groups, online classes/streaming videos are not helpful to me. Looked around for study groups or onsite classes (they charge a lot, and I already spent $1500 on Manhattan class so do not want retake another class).

Can anyone share tips on how to solve my problem.

My base score was 630, 2years ago.

Thank you
T

Try finding out any peers in your area for forming a study group. This should help. But in the end, it is the concepts and prep that you've put in that is gonna matter. Have you tried a Live Online course before? Heard they're much better than just On Demand courses. All the best for your test.

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) Are you just now restarting your studies or have you been studying for some time?
- I just restarted after almost 2 years

2) Have you taken a FULL-LENGTH CAT recently (with the Essay and IR sections)?
- Yes. I got 590 when I tried a full length practice test (by Manhattan) but, I only took it once. 2nd time I skipped the easy part.

Goals:
3) What is your goal score?
- 700+ is my ideal goal, but 670 is a realistic goal.

4) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
- End of may or june (based on my preparation)

5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
- I will try 2018 intake but I know it is too late. I will refine my profile based on the responses and will target 2019 intake

6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
- Northwestern, CMU, Oxford, Booth, Judge. However, I am not fixated on specific schools yet, good ranking schools should be good enough.

Thank you

Hi Tej5470,

I'm hoping that you can clarify some details you wrote in your response:

"- Yes. I got 590 when I tried a full length practice test (by Manhattan) but, I only took it once. 2nd time I skipped the easy part."

Does this mean that you RETOOK a CAT that you had already taken (and that you skipped the essay the 2nd time you took that CAT)? When did you take this most recent CAT?

There are a lot of reviews for egmat but I haven't used their Live Online course. You can always schedule a trial class and then opt out if it doesn't suit you!
