Post MBA Goals: I forgot to mention this important point. Currently my work comprises of managing business partners who sell software and hardware that supports manufacturing industry. As these business partners are independent companies, I prefer to do more of consultancy than traditional hierarchical management, to establish mutual respect. My educational inclination (masters in specialization in manufacturing) and work experience in current company is specifically directed towards serving manufacturing industries from Aeroplane to Automobile and from tool room to finished parts. With MBA, I aim to stay in this field, use my new learnt skills and network and bring advance manufacturing solutions to emerging markets. Later I would like to venture in setting up my own consultancy that would specifically cater to easy, fast, low scrap, low carbon footprint and reliable manufacturing of goods. Aim is to have a social impact by accelerating economic growth of less privilege regions by bringing in the right mix of software and hardware supporting digital manufacturing (IOT and Industry 4.0).

Overview
After completing my under graduation, I was sure about pursuing a fulfilling career but did not know which direction to head. Going with the theme of my subjects, I started working with a Big 4- a safe option but unsatisfying despite the awards and accolades. Also, I did not want to pursue an ACCA or CPA, so venturing into business was the next obvious choice.

Work experience:
I will have about 2.5 years of experience as a lawyer at the time of matriculation. I currently work as a corporate lawyer for a reputable mid-sized law firm in Singapore. In my day to day work, I take the lead on files where I run and manage transactions, liaising with clients and counterparties independently.
I also sit on my firm's pro bono committee where we organise community involvement programmes twice a year promoting legal outreach to those in need and/or the elderly.
Separately, I am also involved in the firm's hiring process where I conduct the first round of interviews for new hires (trainees and associates) to the firm.

Prior to university, I served the military and underwent basic military training for 2 months. Thereafter, I served the police force for about two years and currently hold the rank equivalent to an army Major. I lead a troop of 40 officers to run security operations projecting police presence and ensuring the security of Singapore Changi Airport.

Extra-curricular activities:
I am an avid sportsperson and have played field hockey since I was in secondary school. I was also very active and played soccer and floorball in university, regularly representing my university faculty team in intra-faculty tournaments.
Outside of school, I was president of my alumni hockey club and managed the club to compete across 3 out of 5 divisions in the national hockey leagues. In my time at the helm, we have managed to firmly establish ourselves as a major player in the local hockey scene.

Post-MBA Career Goals:

Besides applying to Harvard, I am also aiming to apply to Rotman, Tuck, Kellogg and Columbia.

First of all--I'm blown away by what an impressive profile you have! Congratulations on all you've accomplished! The good news is that it's clear you're going to be super successful no matter what you do. The somewhat less good news is that the 2+2 program is notoriously difficult to get into, and part of it's aim is to attract candidates with diverse academic backgrounds to the program. (This is why typically you see more admits with STEM backgrounds or even humanities than econ and business.) The key to success for you will be to position yourself as not a typical finance student--it sounds like some of the more entrepreneurial endeavors you've been involved in could make for interesting stories, and if you're interested in pursuing something similar immediately after graduating from undergrad it could be a good reason to gain acceptance to a program now.

I'd also encourage you to check out the Silver Scholars program at Yale and similar ones at Wharton, Stanford, and Booth if you haven't already. Good luck!
