Does anyone have any tips for data-heavy and calculation heavy MSR questions?
This may seem like a no-brainer but don’t forget that you have access to a calculator. DI is usually my last section so by the time I get there I’m used to doing calculations on my own because you don’t have a calculator for other sections. To HarshavardhanR’s point, it’s important to know when to use one and when not to, but from personal experience, I used to often forget that there is a calculator available that I can use if need be. A lot of times I’d start working on a heavy calculation right away instinctively only to realise it’s too heavy to be done manually and then start doing it on the calculator. This not only costs me time on a question, but my anxiety would shoot up just knowing how I wasted time on such a silly thing. So every time I practice DI now, I make it a point to remind myself before I begin the section that there’s a calculator and before jumping on a calculation, I pause and think if it needs a calculator or not.
