Okay, we're almost at the end.
I will miss this competition, for sure.
The orange team looks invincible but we will fight until the end.
Let's start with our explanation of this topic:

Identify the Question:
We are dealing with an assumption question. We should focus on premises and conclusion.
We are looking for the author Necessary gaps that hold the argument.

Deconstruct the Argument:
A leading streaming service company has introduced a new pricing tier that allows users to watch shows and movies with advertisements at a reduced cost. - Background
The company is concerned that this cheaper ad-supported tier might lead to a significant decline in subscriptions to its more expensive, ad-free service. - Intermidiate Conclusion.
To mitigate this, the company plans to restrict access to its most popular original content exclusively to subscribers of the ad-free tier. - Conclusion

State the goal:
In assumption question we are looking for the gaps the author makes in order to conclude his conclusion (as I stated before).
I can come up with several gaps here. one or two of them are that majority of the people subscribe because they want to see the most popular original content.
The streaming company belives the people do not switch from "add free" to "ad-supported" if they restrict the most popular content.
Thus, we are looking for one of the gaps in this argument, let's see what the answer choices have to offer.

Elimination
A) Opposite - If subsribers primarly choose the ad-free regardless the content so why do the company concered of a decrease? If all subsriber follow that we it breaks the argument. exactly the opposite way. - Eliminate.
B) Correct - If it is true, that the subscriber choose by popular original content, so the subscribers won't switch from ad-free to ad-supported. Exactly as I brainstormed before.
C) No tie - Here we are way off the conclusion. We aren't talking about cost at all.
D) Opposite - If the subscriber do not consider the cost as a big difference we can expect they should switch, also we are not speaking about cost here. - Eliminate.
E) IrrelevantComparison - What other companies do is not our concern here. We are looking for a gap in OUR leading streamer. - Eliminate.

THE END
I hope you liked the explanation, I have tried my best here.
Let me know if you have any questions about this question or my explanation.

Choice B

Current Scenario: Streaming company introduced a new pricing tier, ad-supported tier
Concern: Company's concern is that the premium subscribers would downgrade to the new cheaper pricing tier
Plan: Restrict original content to only subscribers from the ad-free pricing tier
Goal/ Conclusion: By implementting the plan, the company can mitigate its concern

Question: Assumption

We need to link the restriction of content to the concern, such that restriction would work. Any choice that bridges/ explains this gap is a correct choice

(A) Subscribers primarily choose the ad-free tier to avoid advertisements, not necessarily for exclusive content. This is in oposite direction of the argument, suggesting that the exclusive content doesn't work. Additionally it goes against the argument by implying that the concern doesn't even exist Incorrect

(B) The availability of popular original content will be a decisive factor for many users when choosing between the ad-supported and ad-free tiers. Correct This choice links the decision making factor to the choice of content available

(C) The reduced cost of the ad-supported tier will not significantly increase the total number of subscribers to the streaming service. We are not worried about the total increase in the new subscribers Incorrect

(D) Most current subscribers to the ad-supported tier do not consider the price difference between the two tiers to be prohibitively large. This choice targets a different segement of subscribers. We are worried about migration from ad-free to ad-supported but not the other way round. Even if this choice were to be true we don't whether they would upgrade themselves to offset the losses caused by subscribers downgrading thier plan Incorrect

(E) Other streaming services do not offer their premium content to subscribers of their lower-priced, ad-supported plans. This doesn't help. We cannot compare other streaming servie companies, and hence we cannot be sure that what works for them works for this company and vice-versa Incorrect

Things to consider: The company thinks cheaper ad-supported tier might lead to a significant decline in subscriptions expensive one, ad-free service. Now, the company plans to restrict access to popular original content exclusively to subscribers of inexpensive one to prevent the decline.

Now, watch out option, (B) The availability of popular original content will be a decisive factor for many users when choosing between the ad-supported and ad-free tiers.

If, popular original content is not a decisive factor, certainly it can not prevent decline to expensive one.

Answer: B.

Company's Concern "this cheaper ad-supported tier might lead to a significant decline in subscriptions to its more expensive, ad-free service.

(A) Subscribers primarily choose the ad-free tier to avoid advertisements, not necessarily for exclusive content.
If they choose ad-free tier to avoid advertisments, they will not shift to the lower tier, regardless of the content made exclusive or not.

(B) The availability of popular original content will be a decisive factor for many users when choosing between the ad-supported and ad-free tiers.
If is a deciding factor, than they may choose either of the two and remains for the same category of choice when content is made exclusive.

(C) The reduced cost of the ad-supported tier will not significantly increase the total number of subscribers to the streaming service.
Plan is not related to increase the subscribers base..

(D) Most current subscribers to the ad-supported tier do not consider the price difference between the two tiers to be prohibitively large.
If most do not consider the price difference, they will not shift. This weakens the company's concern.

(E) Other streaming services do not offer their premium content to subscribers of their lower-priced, ad-supported plans.
What other companies do, we cannot assume for this plan.

IMO A.
