Thank you so much for sharing and sorry to hear about the issues. Can you elaborate what do you mean by timer issue? Does the timer freeze or stop working?

I have also faced the issues in both practice test 3&4. I have reached out to the gmac custermer service and still waiting for their response.

Timer countdown works fine, however, the question counter messes up. For ex., I may be on question 16 on Quant with 30minutes left and next time I look at the clock and question, I see it as 4 of 31 with, let's say, 20minutes left. Timer goes down fine, but, the question order gets "f"ed up.

It is very disappointing because we paid for this test :( :( ,now i have to use the reset exams option which is available just one time

I had a similar issue just today!
1. The question counter was messed up and threw random numbers so I did not know where I am in the test.
2. It is not letting me move to Quant after the Verbal section.

What a waste of time and 50 USD.

I faced the same issue on my practice tests-3. I paused the test after I completed the Verbal and Quant sections but when I tried to resume from the IR section, the interface would throw me back to last question of Verbal section with this message - 'There was an error processing your request. We have paused your exam and you can resume it from the Exam dashboard'. I could see that my responses in the Verbal & Quant section were saved in the portal as it showed the number of incorrect or correct answers, but did not display the scaled score as the exam was not completed.

So I wrote to GMAC and they fixed it in a couple of days and asked me to do this :

Quote:
Our Development Team has fixed this issue with the GMAT Official Practice platform. You will have to login and re-launch the platform to refresh the system.

Log out of GMAT Official Practice on all devices and browsers.

Clear your cookies/cache - When clearing your browsing data, please ensure you have All Time (if using Google Chrome) selected

Close your browser and re-open a new one

Launch an incognito window (important)

Login to your mba.com account.

If you continue to experience this error, please send me a screenshot of what you are seeing.

We apologize for any frustrations this issue may have caused.

After this, the error was fixed and I was able to resume my test from the IR section and get a scaled score at the end. Hope this helps!

P.S. I've also had an issue with the question counter in one of the earlier mock tests. I thought the test was resetting and my earlier responses were not getting saved but that was not the case. I was able to review all the responses at the end of the test.

I am facing the same issue with Mock-1. The software wouldn't take me to the next question and the timer seems to be active while I wait for the software to take me to the next question. :((

I had the same problem in 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th mocks. I wrote to the GMAC and they promptly responded asking me to clear the cache and open the exam in incognito window in the browser and the method did not work. But then I figured out a work around (I did this in my 5th and 6th mocks): When the screen freezes, press the "save for later tab" and you will automatically exit the exam and there, you immediately click resume, you will return back to the same screen (screen usually freezes when you press next. So, automatically the test will resume from the next question) and you will not loose your time.

May not be the best thing when you are super focused but at least you will not loose time and finally be heart broken at the end of the exam.

One disadvantage with this workaround is that when you exit, you will actually see the number of questions you got right. So depending on your performance, it can boost your confidence (resulting in a better performance) or bring down your confidence (resulting in not so good performance).

Best wishes,

This is a helpful tip!
Thanks for trying to solve it. I know in the past it was impossible to pause/resume so this is an improvement. Thank you!

I also faced the issue of the screen freezing when you press "next" while the timer keeps on running.
Extremely painful because it happened at so many screens that I lost a considerable amount of time.
(This is as of 25th July).

I am now hesitant to practise the remaining GMAT prep mocks because the score ends up being demoralizing.
How can we ascertain that this has been solved?

bb Bunuel avigutman GMATNinja would you have any experience with the same through any of your students/peers?
Any advice?
Really appreciate your kind words here!

GMAT Prep Software Frozen or Stuck

A number of test-takers have reported unable to finish their GMAT Prep Tests on the new platform and having to reset or abandon them. Usually tests seem to get stuck on the IR section of the test.

The goal is to try to find a solution. If you have had an issue or were able to resolve this problem, please post your experience here.

I am facing the same issue right now. After finishing the quant and verbal sections, my screen froze. It doesn't even have the save for later option. How do I resolve this?

It seems there must be some kind of an issue with the GMAT Prep happening. Quite a few folks have complained about their GMAT Prep software getting stuck. It really sucks. We have not seen this many complaints since the launch in December.

I have not seen a solution so far to this issue.
I believe someone suggested opening another window and logging in to the GMAT prep in that window to see if they can restart or continue the test in another browser... my test has not gotten stuck so I can't really troubleshoot it.... what about hard Refresh? SHIFT+CTRL+F5? Nothing?

It's not only "getting stuck" but also the exam timer running after you've selected an option but not moving on to the next question, sometimes for minutes!
I want to see where I stand in order to book the GMAT exam and the practise test cannot give a satisfactory result under these circumstances so I am concerned.
Should I trust the scores I get from, let's say, MGMAT or VeritasPrep mocks and book the exam if I see score splits that I am aiming for?

Also, this brings up the concern that whether the GMAT ONLINE will also behave in an erroneous fashion (I have no center dates or timings that are suitable for me).

Wow. That really sounds bad with a lag like that. Sounds like something is crashing on the back side

I would not worry about what you can't control really. I would focus on answering questions.
GMAT online uses a whole different platform. There is no connection to the GMAT Prep system so you should be just fine in terms of this bug.

As to taking third party practice tests - I took those and there are differences but the difference is much less vs taking OG questions on paper for example. The whole fear of non-official tests is manufactured.
You do realize that the world only had 2 official practice tests for about 10-15 years, right? People from 1998 till 2013 or so only had access to 2 official GMAT Prep tests. What do you think we did to practice? Of course we took Kaplan and Veritas Prep and Manhattan tests. Sometimes the scoring was imperfect (esp on the early 2000's Kaplan tests that would penalize you by 50 points) but that did not prevent us from scoring our 700's so be bold and confident.
