Hi Jasoneid,

Many GMATers are unhappy with their initial practice scores, but you really shouldn't be. That 420 is just a measure of your skills right now - and you'll improve on that result over time as you learn more about the content, Tactics and little 'secrets' of the Exam. That having been said, you will have to learn and hone a variety of different skills before you will be able to consistently score 700+ and many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores. By extension, if you are going to limit your studies to just 2 months, then there will likely be a limit to how much you can improve in that time.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores on this 1st CAT? Did you have to rush to finish any of the sections?
2) What study materials do you currently have access to?
3) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

took a diagnostic CAT test and scored 420
Do you think it is possible to score a 700 or above

This person started with a 420 base and ended with a balanced 730. Took a bit of tutoring but mention a variety of resources in their post. May be some helpful insight.

Dear Jasoneid,
420 is not the low diagnostic score; my was almost a few hundred points less the yours )
I would suggest to take TTP because its well-structured study plan and unique approach already have helped me to ameliorate my Quant score. Weather you need to recall some concepts or practice weakness areas TTP study plan can guide you to do so.

The time of preparation hinges upon your ability to assimilate the information.

Hi Jasoneid,

If I'm being totally honest, I don't think your target score is feasible in just 2 months. I would either consider 2nd round or consider applying the following year. Regarding how to get moving with your GMAT, here is a helpful article:
