So I've been preparing for the GMAT since the last 4 weeks or so after taking a diagnostic test on which I scored a 600. I decided to focus on prepping for the verbal section first, since I'm not a native english speaker and have been using the official guide plus manhattan strategy guides to prepare for the same.

A couple days back I decided to practice questions in a similar setting as the real exam and so I solved the 45 free GMATPrep Verbal practice questions for the first time and got 87% of the questions correct (avg. time per question 1 min 44 secs, scored 100% CR questions correct).

Having exhausted free question resources, I turned to VeritasPrep FREE practice questions, however, my accuracy with these questions has dropped to 30-35% (even at CR) and I can't help but question the quality and intent of this free question bank. Questions seem ridiculously ambiguous, almost like the sole purpose of the FREE QB is to scare people and rope them into purchasing their course.

Hi,

There is difference between official and Veritas/Manhattan and other prep companies who have their own content

A 650 GMAT score in Veritas/Manhattan mocks is equivalent to a 730/740 official GMAT score. So, yes there Is a difference

All companies are here to make money only. So, it’s not fair to point out any company in particular.

Coming to your material for verbal. If you have exhausted Official guide, start doing Verbal review. You have an additional 350+ official questions.

Recently, GMAT has launched advanced material for GMAT (tough questions), you can try that, though they are tough they will be in sync with the type of GMAT questions.

And lastly, you can also practise OG removed questions from previous versions which will be available from GMATCLUB. This should cover the material for your exam.

All the Best.

Hi JurusGomes,

While you might be tempted to place a lot of meaning on your performances on quizzes and practice sets, the only practical way to truly assess your progress -and how well you might perform on the Official GMAT - is to take a FULL-LENGTH CAT and take it in a realistic fashion (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, etc.). Since it's been a month since you took your 1st CAT, it would be a good idea to take another CAT sometime soon. Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss the results and how you might adjust your studies.

Beyond that data, it would also help if you could provide a bit more information on your timeline and your goals:

1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What is your overall goal score?
3) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
